Detects Non-Diet Soft Drinks Before Accidental Consumption - A Must Have for Diabetics and The Health Conscious - 40 Strips Per Box

Tested multiple times before relying on it to take out, and found it to be accurate 10/10 times. Definitely helped me out and saved me from high blood sugars when restaurants get my drink wrong.I keep mine in my glucometer case, but the tube is small and secure enough you could keep it just about anywhere on you.The top is pop-off and ridged so it would be easy for someone with limited mobility to take off themselves and thicker so it is easier to put back in. The strips are a smooth plastic that doesn't cling to the other strips or the container so they come apart pretty easy.The color difference is by no means subtle either, so people with limited vision or color-blindness should be able to have an easier time seeing if a drink is safe or not.It also worked with a few sugar substitutes that would spike my sugar as well, but I can't say if it will work with them all.Overall really appreciated the product and it's usefulness in my day-to-day :)

I often found myself dumping full sodas that I had paid for because they "didn't taste right" and I didn't want to risk it; I am not diabetic but am trying to keep my calorie intake reasonable for my size and a large soda would be several hundreds of calories difference if given normal vs. diet. These are wonderful, and I love that you get two separate tubes of strips in each box so I can keep one in my car for drive-through trips and one at home for delivery foods!I do wish the strips and their case were a bit shorter; they don't need to be as long as they are which is wasting material + making the strips take up more space than needed. If they were shorter they could fit in a pill-case keychain which would be great! I would just trim my strips and put in a different case, but I'm not sure if the materials in my pill-case (metal of some sort) would interfere with the strips' accuracy, so I don't. Just the smallest of gripes and not a big deal, though. The strips are wonderful and I'll be buying these for the rest of my life I'm sure!NOTE: The manufacturer has a notice above that talks about how these work; they detect high fructose corn syrup which is the typical sweetener used in non-diet drinks. It MAY NOT WORK on sodas sweetened with other sugars. I'm a dietitian and the basics are that "sugar" can be many compounds."Table sugar" like you might mix to "test" these strips is 50% glucose, 50% fructose, and that molecule is bound together chemically. Thus, when it is in water in a cup, it is *still* sucrose, not glucose + fructose separately. It is not until after consumed that your digestive enzymes break that bond and turn the sucrose into glucose + fructose separately.Sodas in the US are typically flavored with HFCS, high fructose corn syrup. HFCS has different formulations, but in soda it is usually 55% fructose to 45% glucose. However, unlike in table sugar, this fructose and glucose have already had the molecules broken apart and is actually in solution as fructose and glucose before being consumed.These strips detect *GLUCOSE*, not sucrose (table sugar), fructose (fruit sugar), etc. Thus if you try to "test" these with a mixture of table sugar or juice you may find they are giving negatives because they are detecting unbound glucose. I have tested this myself since I happen to be a researcher in a nutrition lab which studies the effect of different sugars, so I have them all separate in bags. You can see in my images that I have made mixtures of water+dextrose (another name for glucose), water+fructose, and a diet soda. The only strip that had a positive was the dextrose (glucose) strip. And so if your drink has unbound glucose (such as in HFCS or pure glucose) it will detect it, but it may fail to detect other sweeteners with bound glucose.

I have type two diabetes and was recommended this on a chat group. I was on to check out beverages to see how they really affect you even if the beverages say they are zero sugar or diet. This helped me double check things to make sure as it’s a relief to know you didn’t accidentally get a regular soda versus a diet. I’ve tested it on a lot of things at home such as coffee creamers, ice tea, pickle juice, soda’s it definitely does work. I would definitely recommend it. Lets me know what I can drink and what I should stay away from just if something is marked as zero or light or diet does not necessarily mean it’s good for a diabetic I would definitely recommend and would get again. I feel the reason reasonably priced and work very well and they gave me a good piece of mind.

I really wish these had been around when I was a kid, but I'm glad I have them now. It's not always easy to tell if a fountain drink is diet, and the consequences of finishing off a full-sugar drink are severe if you are diabetic and haven't planned for it. These strips work easily. I did a test at home with a regular soda and a diet, and the strips accurately detected the sugared drink. Exactly what I wanted to know. The strips are convenient, and the storage tube is slim enough to slip in a pocket, purse, or go bag easily. No more wasting expensive blood test strips, and it takes less time to dip a strip than wait for results on your meter. A must have for anyone concerned about staying zero sugar on the go.

These diet pop strip detectors are literally life savers for my daughter with type 1 diabetes. We use them every where we go to ensure she really is served diet pop. The first time I bought these, I immediately tested them for accuracy with pop from my own fridge. Sure enough, the non-diet pop caused the strip to react.We were out to dinner just the other night. All 3 of us at the table ordered diet pop. The waitress proceeds to bring the drinks. Immediately dipped a strip in my daughters drink. Sure enough, it was NOT diet. I asked the waitress to please bring her a diet pop, she assured me it was diet. I kindly showed her the strip and said it’s not. I proceeded to dip both other drinks at the table, they came up diet.It was an educational opportunity for the waitress that it is imperative to ensure when someone asks for diet, even a child, you need to ensure that’s what they get. I will never be without these life saving strips for my T1D child. Thank you for this amazing product that keeps my child safe.

These have been a great piece of mind. Luckily I have not had a non diet mistake in the short time using them but being diabetic just the piece of mind has been great. Glad I found the product!
