Waveshare Industrial USB to RS485 Converter with Original FT232RL and SP485EEN Embedded Protection Circuits for Industrial Control Equipments and/or Applications with High Communication Requirement

This isn't the cheapest RS485-USB adaptor out there, but it does provide some neat features which the entry-level adaptors do not.What I like about it:- It's isolated so any noise or voltage differential on one side isn't going to kill / affect the other side. Cheap adaptors do not provide this level of protection.- It comes with a short USB extension cable so you can use the cable and not have the adaptor block other adjacent USB ports when connected directly to the host.- It comes with a small disconnectable block. This allows you to wire up the cable to the block without fiddling with the adaptor itself. You can also easily disconnect the RS485 side without removing the device from the host.- It comes with a small screwdriver for the Phoenix-style connector. So everything you need is provided. The screws are small but still decent enough to not be too fiddly or weak. Other smaller USB adaptors have very small fiddly connectors which are prone to failing or cross-threading the screws in attempting to lock down the connection.Overall a great little adaptor and for the extra features it provides, is well worth the cost in my opinion to the slightly cheaper adaptors out there.

If you need to convert RS485 TO USB, this excellent little unit perfectly fits the bill.Do read up on the RS485 protocol and remember you can drive very long lines, over 1KM, if you terminate them with 120 ohm resistors on BOTH ends.

Have had no issues with this. Tried with windows 11 with realterm plus also works with my pixel 8 with an otg adapter and some serial monitor software from the store.Would recommend

Good, reliable and just what I wanted.

This a wonderful little product and excellent value. It does exactly what it says it will. I am using it to connect my solar panels to my home automation to feed data in on generation and inverter health. Worked first time and the isolation and lightning protection is vital In this application. The price is compariable with the generic converters on amazon but with this one you get full isolation protection.

Doesn’t work with Mac. Very dissapointing
