Had to buy a new TIVO remote as my 3 year old misplaced it and we looked everywhere to find it. This remote was easy to program and looks great. Every key is brightly backlit when you move it. Contrary to what I read in some reviews, this remote does, indeed, work with a Roamio OTA TIVO unit. The pairing was a little glitchy and I had to repeat 2 or 3 times before it actually synced up properly, but it did eventually pair and the remote works perfectly fine. ( I already had a dongle from my old Vox remote.) Although it took some time and a lot of repetitive clicking of the channel button to program my TV power button code into the remote, I did finally manage to do it. You'd think with all the technological advancements, programming device codes wouldn't still be so tedious. I absolutely LOVE the backlit keys. They are truly backlit. I'm very pleased about that. It comes in very handy during nighttime watching. I was super upset when my old remote went flying through the air after accidentally being flung off the bed and the case being seriously damaged. I was NOT happy. I was even more upset when I saw the cost of replacement. But, now, I see it as a partially beneficial act of fate because it forced me to replace my old Vox remote that had had a broken battery compartment cover for years and also provided the upgrade of the backlit keys feature. Every cloud has its silver lining, I suppose. If you're thinking about upgrading, do it.

What can I say? We've had a TiVo unit in one form or another since 1995. We fell in love with the "Peanut" very early on. All of the buttons just feel like they are in the right place. The device is good on batteries as they last a long time. The only reason we replaced our existing one is we have used it for so long (Probably around 5 or 6 years) that most of the numbers, letters, etc. had worn off. It does a great job managing our Samsung TV's as well.

I purchased this remote from Amazon through a business called Channelmaster. The remote appeared new. I used the batteries that came with the remote. After a few days my TiVo seized up and had to be restarted. Never happened before but I thought it was a one time glitch. This occurred twice more after an additional week or two. Then, the remote stopped working. It would not increase the volume. It stopped going to channels if I selected a channel number. The up/down channel function would not work at all. Finally, the remote would not respond at all. Ok, maybe the batteries the remote came with were old or stale. I put new batteries in the remote that evening. The next morning, not even a full day passed and the remote stops responding. Can't increase or decrease the volume. The channel selector doesn't work. I look to Amazon to return the remote but I am outside the refund window. I am extremely disappointed since this is not an inexpensive remote. Sending it to TiVo will probably cost almost as much as the remote. I will not buy again from the 3rd party seller, Channelmaster.

I bought this remote to replace my original remote. It works very well but not quite as well as my original but has a few more features that offset that. The original was RF and this seems to be IR, which is one issue that I am disappointed with. The other is that this was billed as voice activated but I couldn't get it to work, maybe you can or perhaps there is something that I missed. A few good features are the illumination, button to go right to Netflix and it has a very good layout.

My original remote still works, but a lot of the labels are worn off the keys and I know it can't last forever, so I ordered this as a precaution. It looks identical to the original, but the keys light up! It was brand new, in the box.
