Very sturdy glass jar. Great for those Costco runs.
First off, you will need pliers to get that ring on. A set of needlenose pliers will work best. I have 2 of these filled with rice and pasta. These are what you need after a Costco or Sam's Club run and you buy a 5 Lb sack of rice, beans or whartever. The handle is hard to get on but once on, you can left a good 20 lbs of goods in the jar without the handle falling off. The glass was clear, no blimishes or bubbles. I will buy more of these as I need them.

Size Does Matter
whoever said it doesn't never seen this glass. This 2.5 Gallon Barrel Jar is perfect for your liquid needs. Now on that note I like to address some other reviewers mentioning of the included old school type metal wire handle. The handle is easy enough to install if you look closely how it should and obviously could be installed. Some say the handle is not perfect and I do agree with that. But let me try basic math here.2.5 Gallon liquid = about 20 lbs. Yup I am pretty sure I would not try to hold that glass filled with liquid and that handle. I think its more as decoration or if you have some light weight items in the glass.I personally will lift the glass with two hands so i wont break it. I actually got the 1 Gallon version also. LOVE the Anchor Hocking 2 1/2 gallon glass barrel
I got it for storing my flour in... I figure for roughly $32 it was a great deal. It does indeed hold a LOT of flour. Im not sure how well it will keep bugs out as the lid has a kinda cardboard (?) insert rather than silicon..- I do freeze my flour before placing it in the jar. I simply love how it looks and how easy it is to scoop out the flour. The opening is plenty wide to reach your hand in with ease. The handle is tricky to get on but it makes moving the jar so easy. Im am hoping to buy several more for my sugar and such. I love it and highly recommend.

Great jar, bad handle
I love the size of this sturdy, thick glass -jar, but they need to work on the handle. Mine is too small and impossible to attach it.

Great Jar - Handle assembly takes some thought
This is a really great jar whether for food storage or non -perishable items. The handle assembly takes some thought, but after watching a video by RARU for 55 seconds, it was a breeze. I struggled for ten minutes before watching the video. Video can be seen after scrolling further down the page.

Would of had a 5 star but....
Well packaged is multi layer compressible cardboard. Box in a box and labeled fragile. The glass was smooth, no chips, cracks or thin areas. The glass is a uniform thickness and even throughout. The lid sits even and screws down fairly tight. I knew ahead of time that it is not a water tight seal, you would need to put a gasket in for that. I really like the looks and it goes with my other multi gallons glass storage jars for rice, flower, coffee, etc. My only complaint is that mine did not include the wire bail and wooden handle. Hopefully the manufacturers will send me one.Update 11FEB2023. Now a 5 star and highly recommended due to customer service. Replacement handle was delivered today after contacting customer service [email protected] on 29 JAN. The directions to attach the handle were very simple and easy to follow. It only took maybe 5 seconds to attach it. I did not need any tools to mount it other than pinching the loops closed, nor did anything break while attaching it. I will definitely be ordering more of these 2 1/2 gallon storage jugs. I love them.

Exactly what I was searching for, see photos for how to attach handle
I had a box of hundreds of tiny items from a loved one that needed to be dealt with. My husband and I sorted it out and still had a lot of memories connected to those items that we couldn’t just throw away. I finally came up with the idea of a memory jar. We carefully selected the items we wanted to hang onto until - well, we’ll see. Those precious items are no longer packed away in a box, but they’re also not scattered around the house on constant display. They’re contained, and we can see them when it’s helpful or not see them when it isn’t.The one difficult part of this jar was getting the handle on. I came back and read a bunch of reviews hoping for help, but most people had no solution. I garnered some tips from a few reviews and finally figured it out. It’s tight to get on, but it can be done. The key is to realize that when you’re putting the two loops together, you aren’t putting the metal u-hook through the loop of the opposite piece. You need to just PUT the loop over top of the u-hook, then use the hook on the handle piece to join those two first pieces together. Having an extra set of hands is helpful, but I was able to do it alone. Be sure to have some pliers ready to close up the hook parts on the handle so it doesn’t pop back off.I hope my photos will save a few other people the ridiculous amount of time I spent solving the problem.

Good looking, strong glass, mediocre lid, annoying handle
This is a good, large jar and is close to perfect for what I needed. I store dried goods in these, so I can't comment on anything else. I have two of these.I use one jar for my protein powder (weightlifter), which I buy in bulk. The jar looks good, the mouth is large enough to reach in and find my scoop, it is easy to clean, and the handle (which I will talk more about in a bit) lets me carry it.I use the other jar to store bags of beans and rice and whatnot. I like it for the same reasons: good looking, wide mouth, heavy glass, handle. My complaints: The handle is awful. I had to find instructions on YouTube because the ones included were garbage. Unless you use the handle a certain way, it comes apart no matter how careful you are assembling it. The threads are not great, and this is a minor issue with the protein powder jar because I open and close it twice a day and sometimes powder gets in the threads, which makes it even worse. However, the threads aren't that big of a deal because I can always slow down and get the lid to work.
