So adorable and flew well
I bought this kite for my wife. She sits in a lawn chair and watches me fly my kites and hers too! The otter kite is a little more work to set up than other kites but not difficult and well worth it. I flew it at the beach. It took to the sky in an 8 to 10 mph wind and stayed there for about 3 or 4 hours as the wind increased to about 12mph. The otter's tail flutters and there are two streamers on each side that whip around in the wind. Looks great in the sky. The instruction sheet says to tie the streamers together but I didn't and had no problem with the kite. Most of my kites are 3 dimensional soft kites without rods. The otter kite has a sturdy "spine" rod and several spreader rods so familiarize yourself with the set up at home before you try it outside in the wind. Much like setting up a tent in your home or yard before you try to do it outside at night with bugs buzzing around your head. Take your time to slowly bend the rods to fit them in the pockets and connectors and I think you will be fine. In my opinion it's definitely a 5 star kite and a crowd pleaser.

Take flight!!
Purchased it for my daughter, after so many issues with previous kites falling apart. On a not so breezy day, maybe 6mph winds, we took it out. I was hoping it would take off because she was waiting for it so long and viola!!! It took flight and stayed in for 20 Minutes.Definitely not a small kite haha! We had to a hook with a line to hang it on the wall for storage. Easy to collapse and store in container but an art piece in a kids room when on display.

Flies pretty good.
Flies pretty good... does have a tendency to loop itself into the ground and low angles and higher winds. Very durable and once high over head it flies very stable. I've gotten stuck in a couple trees and no rips or tears.

Best kite ever! A definite attention-getter!
I flew this kite at the DC Kite Festival this year and it was a big hit! It got a lot of laughs and many people commented on how cute it was. On top of all that, it is an awesome and easy kite to fly. It went up with no problems at all and stayed in the air for hours. The only issues were when the winds got very strong, the otter would go all wonky and start twirling and dive bombing. It is quite sturdy because mine crashed into a few people and into the ground a few times, and it didn't break or bend. I recommend getting a reel for it as the standard winder is slow and cumbersome and allows the string to become tangled easily. I will also likely replace the plastic stability tails with fabric as the plastic has become frayed and stretched in several places. That's to be expected when there are hundreds of other people flying kites in close proximity! However, if you are alone, it will be fine. Have I said how much I love this kite?

A cute good flier
Funny and cute. Well made. Can handle breeze and gusts. Climbs slowly at right angle that you can enjoy viewing. Easy to assemble and dissemble. Recommended!

So much fun, loved it
We were going on Vaca to the Oregon coast so I picked up several of these kites for the family (the octopus, an otter, and a shark). Initially the octopus was very unstable. We just took the tentacles (one from the left side and one from the right side) and tied them together in the center. This made it fly right and kept it from getting squirrely and crashing. So much fun, loved it!

Looks good. But flies poorly.
Looks cool and cute. That's the only thing it's got going for it. It doesn't launch very easily. And it doesn't float or sustain itself nearly as well as the standard isosceles trapezoid kites. Also, due to its unorthodox shape, it's significantly more difficult to fold and put away than regular kites. Still it's not bad.Get this kite if you love the way it looks. If you don't care much for the turtle image, go find a trapezoid kite which will fly much better.

Fun kite and a great attention grabber
It's amazing how well this kite flies. It practically jumped out of my hands. Great conversation piece. One of the local kayak rental places asked if they could take a picture of it because it's cute and evokes the idea of fun. The price makes this a no-brainer.
