This design is a great improvement over traditional box graters!
I love that this grater comes apart and can be used in pieces, one side at a time! It is much more convenient to clean and takes less space to store than a traditional box grater. I also find it easier to use, for my purposes. The grips are soft and easy to hold, and when it comes to storage, I really appreciate the plastic covers that are included for both sides of the grater. The graters themselves are sharp and work really well. Overall, I highly recommend and am so glad I made the switch from a traditional box grater. I should have done it long ago!

It is pretty easy to use, but I'd say the biggest selling point is how easy it is to clean!
*Edit:* I just noticed there are a variety of products on this page. This review is for the OXO Good Grips Etched Two-Fold Grater.Since this rating process has the categories of: Easy to clean, Easy to use, and Easy to hold, I'll touch on those areas.## Cleaning ##I think my favorite thing about this pair of cheese graters is how easy they are to clean! Since I only use one side at a time, there's much less surface area to worry about. I feel these things are well made and pretty seem-less. This means there aren't little nooks and grannies in which the little cheese pieces can play hide-and-seek (like I've seen with box graters). After use, to give it a quick rinse (~10 seconds) I run warm water over the front side of it and wipe it with my hand (in the direction of the blades! don't grate your fingers!). Any cheese particles and residue seem to wipe away pretty easily. By the time I flip it over, there's usually not much on the underside. I then wipe across the grater in the opposite direction on the other side (I find it's easier to move toward the blades on the underside). If I want to be a little more thorough before putting it away, I'll do the same thing with a little soap and warm water on a soft dish cloth/pad. It glides across the surface pretty easily wiping away greasy residue (again, go with the blades). After wiping across the other side and a quick water rinse, you're done!## Usage ##I keep the two parts separated and only use them one at a time depending on how finely I want to grate the cheese. So far I've kept to using harder cheeses for the finer grater. I use the coarser grater when I want bigger pieces or when using softer cheeses. The blades seem pretty sharp, so I haven't had too much difficulty grating cheese. Depending on how you hold or support the grater, you may be able to apply more force to grate more quickly.I'd say you want to apply the force in a more parallel direction (maybe using a force vector that's 10-15 degrees off the plane of the grater). There appears to be some flex when pressing into the grater. I could see potential for warping over time with too much pressure being applied into the grater. I don't see this being an issue if you apply the majority of the force in a parallel direction. You just need enough force to keep firm contact between the cheese and the grater. The blades are pretty sharp, so just moving the cheese across them should get the job done. Along those lines, be mindful of the placement of your fingers as you use it. I've had one nick so far, but I was spacing out not paying attention to what I was doing. Luckily it was only on the very surface of my fingertip.## Holding ##If you need some support, you can rest the bottom end of the grater on a surface (counter/dish/etc.). I found I prefer just holding the grater in the air by the handle. This could get tiring after enough grating, but I like having less of a mess by doing it this way. I tend to hold the grater mostly parallel to a bowl or plate so that most gratings go into the dish.I haven't yet tried grating with the two pieces attached. I think it's more convenient to keep them apart. There may be more support using it that way, so I guess that's something to consider. I like making cleanup as easy as possible, so the less surfaces to clean, the better!## Conclusion ##Overall, I'm pretty happy with this purchase. Having tried single pane and box graters, I find I prefer the pane style. I also found I tend to only need two sizes for grating cheese, so this pair is perfect. The product looks well-made, it's *very* easy to clean, and I haven't had difficulty using it.I consider this a 5 star product, and I hope it helps others to increase their enjoyment of cheese like it has for me!

Best grater I've used
I do a lot of cooking, and I've always really hated box graters. They're bulky and hard to clean and half the time they wear out quickly. This OXO grater is a fantastic replacement for the boxy ones that I despise so much, and it's by far the best grater I've ever used.In addition to both sides being sharp and working well, this thing is expertly designed. The large handle is really easy to hold for long periods of time. The fact that both sides come with a cover is amazing and makes it so much easier to throw the whole thing into a drawer. I love how the pieces can be disconnected, mainly because it's way easier to hand-wash that way. And like I said, it just overall works exceptionally well.My only complaints are 1) the body is made of plastic, which is fine but I wish it were more durable for the price. And 2) this isn't a big deal but I wish the two pieces could be locked together for even easier storage. But neither of those are dealbrakers, this is an overall fantastic grater and I highly highly recommend it.

Overall great, plastic a little flimsy
I like this still cheese grater. The grater works well, but I can see this breaking like my previous one (different brand) as it’s a little flimsy and bends as you grate the cheese. The other one did that, and eventually the plastic casing snapped. It’s a nice size though, it’s sharp and cleans well. Time will tell!

Best grater ever!
I love this grater for many reasons: it stores compactly, it grates beautifully, it cleans easily, and doesn’t rust. There are two grating options for thick or thin shreds and it even works well with a softer cheese like mozzarella.

RV Life Friendly!
I love this grater. I travel with work and this is the perfect grater. This is a FULL SIZE accessory. I have fought for years with small 'camper' sized food graters only to mangle my fingers while using them. This is a foldable full size grater that knows its assignment. OXO is great quality and it is cabinet/RV friendly. 100% would recommend.

Gets the job done!
I love this grater! Its small but gets the job done! It grates hard cheese really well, in fact it takes only seconds to grate half a wedge of parmesan. I like that it can be used standing or I can separate and grate right over the pot or dish. It took me a little bit to figure out how to separate the thing but once I realized you fold it flat, line up the arrow on the round circle part (at the joint of handle) and then pull apart. I also love that it has plastic covers that slide off/on easily that protects from nicking yourself when storing. For a grater that you use for small/medium jobs I highly recommend this one! The only warning I will issue is: don't put it in the dishwasher. It says dishwasher safe but I have found with these types of graters the plastic tends to dry out from the chemicals in the dishwasher soap and then the plastic cracks. Hand washing is the best way to go.
