INSL-X Block Out Acrylic Exterior Wood Stain Blocking Primer, White, 1 Gallon

For some reason, I thought that I'd need less primer than paint. The opposite was true. I was painting a wooden shed and it took a lot of primer to cover it. It just kept sinking into the wood. Since it was thicker, it was a bit harder to get into the grooves. I had to order more so it cost more than I had planned on spending. It did cover very well and made the actual painting very easy.

Thick primer that works easily and has high hiding ability. Haven’t experienced any bleed through on cedar. Haven’t used it long enough to assess durability.Bit expensive for primer.Recommended. Would buy again.

Block out primer - I've used it and I can't tell you if it's good or bad since I've haven't been back to those jobs.Will it kept sap from cedar wood or other woods like oil primer? I don't know. What I can tell you is it covers other water based paints as good, not better that orher water-based primers and definitely doesn't cover over oil based paints better than the Zinsler's oil based primer.In the picture, you'll see it goes over water-based paint as well as the oil -almost - good enough to not want to deal with all that stink. However you will see it doesn't do as good as a job going over oil based paint (it was a red paint magic marker). Number one (orange tape) will show what one coat of the oil-based oil primer did number two with the orange arrow you'll see what the coverage was like with one coat of oil-based primer and one coat of eggshell water-based White.Blue tape with number one on it was one coat of this primer. Blue tape with a two on it shows you one coat of this primer and one coat of water based eggshell White. You could see it really didn't go over that red.Will that matter when using this going over wood? I doubt it. But for a real important job for a customer I'll probably stick with oil base when it comes to woods that they suggest using an oil primer until I do a test.

It is thick/covers in one coat,this is my second gallon,works great on treated deck wood...must stir often,will purchase again when needed!

OMG! This was the primer i wanted. had to prime new cedar posts on my front porch that would then be painted white after primed. cedar is really hard to cover. the tannin bleeds through and i didn't want to have to put on 3 or 4 coats of primer to cover. this stuff is so good, i could have probably gotten away with only 1 coat but put on a 2nd coat, just to be sure everything covered well. easy clean up with soap and water. also, i live in a big city, have at least 2 Benajmin Moore stores nearby plus several Ace Hardware stores that carry Benjamin Moore paints. no one had this primer EXCEPT AMAZON DID, at a lower price than Ben Moore's list price and unavailable everywhere close by. shipped fast, actually, as usual, it was delivered 1 day earlier than promised by Amazon.
