Job saving project for cement board
It's a shame the reviews can't be stupid proof. Reading the negative reviews about this thing is disheartening because this tool has been the most invaluable tool that we have purchased as do it yourselfers while installing Hardie siding on our house. There are two of us (my husband and myself) doing this project on a 4 story house on a steep slope in the mountains and I can't praise this machine enough for getting us through this project. As a petite and not very strong female, I can cut easily with this machine and hand the boards to my husband while he is up on a ladder. We literally could not have done this project without this machine and think it is the greatest thing! It cuts through Hardie Board with ease and it's precise. Another great bonus is I don't have to wear a mask while cutting since it literally gives off no dust (Hardie board dust is very toxic). An excellent machine if you know how to use it. Please don't listen to not so bright people giving this machine bad reviews, it truly is a job saver if you are doing cement board.

Best way to cut cement lap siding
You still have to rip and cut long angles with either a saw or nippers but for square cuts of lap siding this tool is great. Nice square cuts and NO Dust!!! Save the mess and no need for dust masks. My crew loves it.

Great tool. Little to none dust.
This is a great tool. The stand could be bigger. It takes an extra support on each side to better handle a small cut. You can pair it with a cordless sheer. DeWalt, Milwaukee and Makita make them. I both a corded sheer tool and i hate the cord. Just suggesting what to pair this great tool with.

good tool but
The guillotine mechanism of this tool is robust and is cutting 15" wide Hardie panels (cement siding) cleanly though with more effortthan i imagined would be needed.I purchased the 26" to be able to cut a 6/12 pitch and I can accomplish thatThe instructions need work... they are somewhat generic and assembly required some guesses.the base to cutter assembly could be made much better with some notches in the rails where they attach to the cutter. The two cam lobes which double the cutting force are finicky to engage and it took a call to Bullet to even realize what they were for.The instructions call for honing the blade occasionally by resting the hone stone on the feed table and running the stone a few times over the flat of the blade...DO NOT rely on the feed table to be square to the blade. Just run the stone with light pressure flat against the blade. My biggest gripe is the fence. It will be good for the occasional angle setting but the bulk of my cuts will be 90 degrees. In the 90 degree setting the fence would move slightly over a number of cuts and keep creeping no mater how tight I got the hand screws. I ended up making my own 90 degree fence which is screwed to the table.Bullet needed to go just a bit farther to make this a great tool .in the $800 to $1000 dollar range I expect a hand tool to be fully engineered and developed...this one is at 85%

Will NOT cut 1/2" strand bamboo.
First.. the packaging was good. The shear showed up with no damage so that's a plus.Second.. I bought the home owners version instead of the professional one. So I think I was expecting more than this shear can handle. 1/2" strand bamboo flooring from lumber liquidators was to much for this shear. Not sure the heavy duty model would fair much better. First try right out of the box the blade got stuck half way through and literally destroyed the sample board. I was afraid to push the handle much harder since it was bending pretty good. I'm a 250 lb mechanic so I can tell when a tool is about to reach its breaking point trust me lol.Third.. I did try this shear on some hardie board siding, and it cut through it with just some effort. I have a siding job I have to do so I'll keep this thing around for awhile. It does a good job on that.Overall I'd say this is a good tool for softer material but bamboo is just out of its league..

Perfect! Does what its supposed to - Contractor Review
We bought this to cut cement fiber siding aka Hardie Plank Siding. We were a little skeptical at first but after it holding up for a week already at the job site install 3000 sq ft of lap siding, IM A BELIEVER.With any tool, this requires some up keep with the blade - just sharpen up the blade after every 100 cuts or 2 days of use with the hone stone they provide and the machine doesnt miss a heart beat. The cuts are clean, flawless and better than using a chop saw or miter - blades can get a bit expensive when youre using a miter

For cement board, priceless...
No dust cuts like a dream very accurate. I got the 13-inch unit, I wish I had gotten the larger unit for the angle cuts. No noise. no dust, no health issues. one blade will last a long time and with my diamond bench stones when I have to restore the edge it will not be a problem.

Awesome!
Just finished a re side job with this. Breezed through 2000sqft of 8" fiber cement siding. Still had to use saw with diamond blade for inside corner cuts, but being able to do all the end cuts dustless is awesome! Tried it on some OSB siding as well and had great results. I would highly recommend this tool if you do siding!
