Thermos Stainless King 16 Ounce Food Jar with Folding Spoon, Cranberry

Thermos has always made good products and I'm happy to say, while many companies' product quality have gone downhill over the year, not this one.I bought this Thermos because I wanted something relatively small that would allow me to keep food warm on the camping Trail. Sometimes you have leftover food at breakfast (whether it be eggs or oatmeal), and you don't want to throw it away, but you would need to keep it warm to eat it again.At 16oz, this holds two cups, yet it isn't a big bulky full-size thermos. What I especially liked about it is it has a big wide open mouth that's designed for food (vs. old school drink thermos) so you can easily put food in and get it out. It's designed to eat directly out of because it even comes with a really nice, sturdy built-in metal spoon that folds/ collapses and tucks into the inner lid. That's pretty handy!So, I tested this in two ways. First, I wanted to see if it would really keep things warm. So I boiled some water in my tea kettle and put it in this morning. The description says it keeps things hot for 7 hours, so I waited 8 hours and gave it a test. The water was still very hot. It wasn't boiling hot any longer, but it was more than warm. I was hoping steam was coming up so I could take a pic and show you, but it wasn't enough to show up on camera. However, it was warm enough to steam my glasses when I took a sip. That's pretty darn good after 8 hours!Second test I did was inadvertent. I knocked the thing off my kitchen counter, and it hit the floor. I thought, "oh crud! My brand new thing's going to be dinged up." But you know what? Not one ding on this thing. That's pretty good after hitting a hard floor.And, I'm not sure what the color finish is? I can't decide if it's powder-coated or some sort of epoxy enamel? It's more than just regular paint as it's kind of iridescent. In any event, it's hardy. Also didn't chip or scuff on hitting the floor. And I love the cranberry color. :)The outer drinking cup seems to have a thin outer coating of metal /stainless, but it's mostly a plastic liner. The thermos itself is definitely stainless steel inside and out. Even while keeping hot boiling water inside, it was cool to the touch on the outside.Really only good things to say about this. If you also need something small to keep food (or beverages warm), this is a really good bet.

My lunch routine works for me, I make a pot of soup a week and pre-portion it into 16 oz containers for weekday school lunches. I heat up one container in the morning in the microwave before putting it in the Thermos. No more running out to find something within walking distance and having to settle for whatever unhealthy thing that may be and unnecessarily spending money. Fast, easy, economical, and healthy.I love this Thermos. The 16 oz size is perfect for a generous meal portion. The wide mouth is perfect for eating out of and not making a mess, it also helps to clean up thoroughly inside later on. It's almost indestructible and looks great, the cranberry color is lovely. You can't beat stainless steel construction- IT DOES NOT LEAK. It actually does keep your food warm or cold for 9-12 hours. When I get it ready in the morning around 6 am, I put hot water in the Thermos, set the lid over it and come back in about 10 min, dump out the water, and put the warmed food inside till lunchtime. When I sit down to eat at noon, the food is piping hot - sometimes i even have to let it cool off before I can eat it.You can use this Thermos exactly as advertised for a hot lunch, clean it by hand or in the dishwasher, drop it on the floor, and trust that it won't leak all over your car. My last few semesters in school would have been a lot more of a trial had I not been able to depend on having these products to deliver my lunch daily to keep me going for a full day at school. I love having something that does what it is supposed to do and does it well. I would buy this product ten times over, funny thing is it's such a great quality I probably won't ever have to replace it. I do heartily recommend this Thermos food jar.

The first one of these that I received was missing the outer lid. I contacted Amazon and was sent a replacement right away. Thanks again, Amazon, for amazing customer service as always!The replacement was perfect - no missing parts. My favorite color is red and this thing looks so sleek and pretty with the red finish. It’s a compact size but still holds a lot. I have used it several times for soup and it has always kept it nice and warm for several hours. I haven’t tried it for anything cold (and probably won’t because that’s not what I bought it for) but I would think it would work just as well at keeping things cold too. When I use it, I run hot water in it for 10-20 seconds to get the inside warm before adding my hot soup. If I did use it for something cold, I would also do the same with cold water before using it.It is supposed to be dishwasher safe but it’s so easy to hand wash and I would rather not take a chance on messing up the finish on it. I am very pleased with this product and definitely recommend it!

This thing is a tank. After 6 years of abuse it still keeps food hot for a long time, unlike our other thermos's.The out top didn't last long but it didn't matter because the inner top has never leaked and our kids never had a problem opening it.Dropping a star for two reasons: the neck is too narrow so makes a mess trying to load almost anything into it, and is a bit hard to eat from. The paint all strips off, see photo. If I was buying again I would get one with no paint.
