I’ve done it but you have to be carful if your heavy handed it will show up under light colors and add graphite coloring to your art. Draw very lightly and it is ok. Don’t press hard because you can also get pencil lines in your art work that color falls into. I use them on there own mostly and also used them to sketch out graphitint art work because those are already graphite and a tiny bit more is not going to hurt anything.

Do the watersoluble graphite pencils come in a tin?

Yes they also are sold in a tin or this blister pack. Both are the same pencils and brush.

is the brush included good? if not, does it matter what water brush i use?

The brush that comes with, is of decent quality. I believe it's a #6 round. However, you can use just about any brush you'd like. Pentel Water brushes are generally what I use because they conveniently allow me to work wherever and whenever.

Can i use this to draw on a canvas and then paint over?

It can work if you don't make hard lines with them on the canvas. But Black or white chalk pencils are ideal to use on canvas, just a suggestion.
