Accurate, High Quality
Been using my co workers Starrett Set of telescoping gauges which are very very nice albeit quite a bit more expensive. The action on these mitutoyo's isn't as smooth as the Starrets I've used however it may be that these mitutoyo's just need be broken in.Did a quick comparison on these vs. the Starretts my coworkers have and as mentioned above the action isn't as smooth on the mitutoyo's but they are almost dead spot on in terms of measurement results between the two brands.I will continue to support and purchase Mitutoyo products far into the future.

Typical Mitutoyo quality
It's a Mitutoyo product. What did you expect? They've built up a great reputation for a reason, their products are great for the money and will work every single time you need them to. If your readings are bad with these, it's definitely not the gage and it's probably not your mic either.

surprisingly underwhelmed
I like the mitotoyo brand, I buy a lot of their products and so far so good, good quality. But this time around...maybe either it wasn't priced right or their quality lacked...the materials and build was good, but the internals of the bores and the tubing wasn't burred so the amount of resistance and evident scratching of the tubes, warranted me taking the gages apart and deburring and lubricating (they came dry). If I paid sub 100 dollars and had to do this...fine and acceptable...but for something going over 200 or even if I got them at a discount...that's not acceptable...
