Perfect for work!
Slightly bigger than I expected, but still fits on my wall just fine! I bought this to put in my room at work since I have clients in and out all day. I like that it's discreet. Exactly one person has asked me what it is in the last week that it's been plugged into my wall. Most people don't notice it, even though they stand right next to it. There is a little bit of sound, and the fan speed cannot be controlled. But it's really not distracting or even noticeable unless the room is silent. Even then, it's probably good white noise. I bought it for air purification and feel confident that it's working to do just that! I'm curious to see how my allergies respond, since I struggle with them year-round. The bulb replacement seems very simple, although it will be a while before I need to worry about that. Great little purifier!

Great product, manages air smell effectively with minimal noise
The media could not be loaded. Works great to abate smell of litter boxes in my laundry room. I had to plug it up at counter height and the boxes are on the floor so I wasn't sure what to expect but it does a great job. Smells gone. I the noise is minimal, I made a video so you can hear it, just like a slight white noise. It is pretty big, larger than an outlet but looks nice and modern and the light is nice. I thought when I opened it there would be some sort of set up but it's super easy - literally just plug in and walk away, then give it a day or so to work it's magic and from then on, clean and sanitized air for all! When I researched, there were really two general options - a sanitizer like this or an ionizer. Seems like the ionizer isn't as safe so I went with this and so far so good after a few weeks of continual use!

Works but might be loud for some
I was a bit turned off at first when I discovered that this product came in one of those clear hard plastic that you will need heavy duty scissors to cut into. It always scares me in opening products in those containers as I know first hand how bloody it can get! Amazon frustration free please! Gosh, I was a bit turned off for the first 15 minutes when I opened it as it did have that cheap plastic smell when you plug it in. However, upon letting it warm up it definitely sanitized the room very well. You will notice the results in a smaller space. If you really want to see how well it works at deodorizing a room, I recommend leaving the room you plugged the product in and coming back after a few minutes. You will discover the room smelling fresh upon returning!Describing the freshness is a bit difficult, and it is not a placebo effect at all too! My friend came to my apartment and noticed the "clean" smell right away! I have a dog that just seems to smell like a dog from time to time which gives my apartment that distinct lived in odor. My friend who came in remarked about the change the minute he entered, without warning him of the sanitizer. I read in some comments on this product that it does not get rid of the kitty litter smell, which I would assume it can't as it is only a small device that seems to battle the moderate scents in a room.To be objective about the noise that everyone mentioned in previous comments on this product...There really is a pronounced noise to it that might either bother or soothe an individual. I find it both... When I need real quiet this thing really does NOT offer that. However, there is something soothing about the sound as well that can be described like a white noise. I kept it on during sleep and it really helped me sleep as it masks all other noises. It sounds more like a gentle fan that does not hit your face and dry it out.My one concern is the bulb. I'm curious how long it will last?! Looking at Amazon it looks like the replacement will cost around $8. My hope is that I only need to replace it once a year with a 12 hour/day use. If not, the cost might be too much for my taste. I will keep you updated to see if it bugs out on me!I recommend to try it out if you have moderate scents you want to get rid of and live in a smaller space. For the price of $22-25 I think it is worth it. Don't buy it for more... save it for the new bulbs you're going to need to purchase later on.

Great product!
Works to get rid of odors. A little noisy, but I didn't care as long as it works.

Replacing the lamp was a debacle
I purchased the GG1000W to operate in my kitchen. It seemed to function acceptably for several months, but eventually, the lamp in the color of the light coming from the unit changed in color from violet to orange, indicating that it was time to change the lamp.Since it appeared the Germ Guardian had used commodity 3W, 10V UV lamps in the GG1000W, I sought out generic replacements with a substantially lower price than $12.39 each through the manufacturer. However, when I received them, it appeared that none of them worked despite multiple attempts at testing. I blamed the manufacturer of the lamps and ordered a replacement from Germ Guardian just so I could get the device operating again. When I received the replacement lamp, I presumed it would work and began reassembling the device. That is when I discovered that the GG1100W has a kill switch preventing it from running without the top on. The top has to be removed to replace the lamp, and it is difficult to attach without reinstalling the front panel. The instructions, which I did not have but are available online, show the top removable without taking on the front panel. This appears to risk damage to the product and does not provide a lot of space for one's fingers to remove and replace the lamp. Removing the front panel requires removing two T8 tamper-resistant screws and two PH0 screws, all recessed over an inch, along with the PH1 screw for the top.It turned out that only two of the six generic lamps I ordered were bad, so I still had to return them. And I still need the working lamp from Germ Guardian to put the device back in service. However, the poor design of the GG1100W seems intended to make replacement of the lamp difficult, so one might just replace the device instead. It seems to be no coincidence that Germ Guardian offers this product on a subscribe-and-save basis.
