Would have given 5 stars if the top had fitted over the end while writing but a lovely thing that takes a Schmidt 888 refill.

This pen looks and feels fantastic. Its elegant simplicity and its satisfying heft (it really is made of brass - not just coated) make it incredible value for a tenner. Unscrewing the cap is a ceremony that lends a sense of importance to what you are about to write. Unfortunately the cheap refill inside means that it actually writes horribly - a thin, scratchy, faint scrawl; but don't let that put you off - it is easily solved by simply replacing it with a decent quality Cross refill - which can be purchased for about five pounds. You will then have the perfect pen for a total outlay of £15. This is so solid and satisfying, and with such a timeless elegance to it, that I am sure that I will still be using this pen to write my diary when I am old.

Arrived with the ink spilled all over the inside of the box, sent back for a refund.ALSO - the lid screws on, it is not a push on lid which is silly, it's bound to get lost at some point and is a total hassle having to re-screw it on after every use.Stupid design.

The refill (one of two supplied ) on right is longer that the one that was in the pen and doesn’t fit and therefore both refills unusable.

Solid pen, easy to write with. Definitely worth the money.

I bought this to try for myself before buying it as stocking fillers for others. The pen looks lovely and is of good heavy quality and writes well. The only issue is there is nowhere on the pen to put the lid and so when the lid is lost which it will be you can't put it in your bag until it dries up as it's a roller ball. It should pop on to the other end of the pen during use.
