Product Description Entertainment banner. The script is by Marco Schnabel, based on characters created by David Titcher. .com Only one film under his belt, and already Flynn Carsen (Noah Wylie) is talking like Indiana Jones. "Relax," he tells a companion before daringly retrieving an ancient artifact before it can be used for evil. "This kind of stuff happens to me all the time." A character of modest charms (much like this made-for-cable movie), Carsen is not your typical movie action hero. His brain serves him better than his brawn. Early on, his knowledge of vegetation plays a key role in a cliff-jumping escape from pursuing bad guys. Carsen, for those just tuning in, is a librarian at the Metropolitan Library, which secretly houses history's mythic artifacts, including the sword Excalibur, and the Shroud of Turin. The fate of the world is once again in Carsen's hands when a map to the legendary King Solomon's Mines is stolen. Carsen embarks on another fantastic global adventure, with stops in Casablanca (with inevitable references to the Humphrey Bogart classic) and Kenya. This time, he has new female companionship, Emily (Gabrielle Anwar), a beautiful archaeologist who can match the much-educated Carsen degree for degree. Reprising their roles from the first film are Olympia Dukakis as Flynn's meddling mother, who tries to fix him up with his third cousin ("You'll have plenty to talk about"), Jane Curtin as flinty library administrator, Charlene ("Save your receipts"), and Bob Newhart as his mentor, Judson. Savvy viewers will see plot twists and character revelations coming from a mile away, but that is all part of the fun, as are the hokey special effects and knowing humor ("There's always a secret passage," Carsen observes while navigating a catacomb). Who know if there will ever be another Indiana Jones movie. Until then, The Librarian is worth checking out, especially on DVD, where it can be enjoyed without intrusive commercial interruption. --Donald Liebenson

Ancient Treasures and High Adventure!
Very lighthearted adventure film, though a television movie, special effects were very good. Noah Wyle is the main character, deep in the basement of a library lurks secret corridors filled with magic. Wyle goes after a map leading to King Solomon's mines and treasure. Assisting him is Bob Newhart, who himself has magic powers. Jane Curtin plays one of his bosses, always wanting receipts of his travels. Location scenes of Cairo, Casablanca and Kenya are very effective. Gabrielle Anwar (Burn Notice) plays a very attractive archaeologist. Robert Foxworth plays a friend who later becomes an enemy in the search. Olympia Dukakis plays his mother (matchmaker). Very reminiscent of Indiana Jones. Last scene plays homage to Bogart's Casablanca, very enjoyable and definitely will purchase other 2 television movies. Special features highlighted the special effects.

More fun this time on a Saturday night
The 2nd of 3 Made for TV movies that easily could have been a theater release.I liked the movie. A few years ago when we still had Cable TV, I caught a few episodes of the TV Series "The Librarians" and recently bought the first 2 seasons to watch when I stumbled across the 3 movies. I opted to purchase the movies and have now watched the first two movies with the family and enjoyed it. I am glad that I will watch the movies first. It's sort of like Raiders of the Lost Ark and Romancing the stone but I think it is better.Jane Curtain & Bob Newhart reprise their roles and send Flynn to find King Solomon's mine. Along the way Flynn teams up with an archaeologist and a local tribal leader that was left to die.I am looking forward to the rest of the movies and then the series.

Awesome move. Perfect shape. Rapid delivery.
This is a great movie to relax and watch over and over. It is part of a 3 movie series and each of them are great. If you like Indiana Jones type of adventure stories but with a light humorous touch to the story, these movies are for you. These were all made for tv movies and the level of production sophistication is surprising. The story, the scenes and the stunts are much better than you would expect in a low budget film (not perfect but many steps above most made for tv movies). Well the worth the few dollars to own and watch over and over.Delivery was fast and condition of movie was exactly as stated.

A Great Romp
Noah Wylie returns in RETURN TO KING SOLOMON'S MINES as the bookish librarian Flynn Carsen. Check your tongue firmly in cheek for this stroll through derring-do. There are laughs a-plenty and more trivia about nearly anything than you can shake a stick at.While the TV-movie-gone-DVD is highly watchable, the story isn't going to take a single twist or turn that the avid movie watcher won't pick up from a mile away. From the pictures Flynn used to draw about his dad's story of adventure and magic, to the real culprit who killed Flynn's father, the movie enthusiast isn't going to be surprised. But that's most of the fun in the movie. You know what you want when you sit down and plop this DVD into the player. RETURN TO KING SOLOMON'S MINES pays off in a diverting 90 minutes of good clean fun and black-hearted villains with nothing less than the future of the world at stake.Jane Curtain and Bob Newhart reprise roles that are campy and fun, and don't stay onstage very long, but they're welcome. The rest all rides squarely on Noah Wylie's shoulders. The beginning of the movie this time smacks of an Indiana Jones-style beginning, and the plot touches on the parent-child pain of the first Tomb Raider movie, and it even has stylings toward the H. Rider Haggard ALLAN CHAMBERLAIN AND KING SOLOMON'S MINES movies starring Richard Chamberlain and Patrick Swayze, as well as the black and white ones. But it's an endearing adventure nonetheless.Buy it or rent it for the family and enjoy popcorn action and booing the villains.

Absolutely Fun
There are other reviews that are more indepth and serious. This is an absolutely fun movie and we are hoping they come out with another one just like it. Noah Wiley does a great job playing a librarian who is slightly put off kilter because he is thrust into dangerous, scary and different situations. The characters are as believable as they can be given the situation they are placed in (working in a library that collects historical artifacts that may or may not exist). My children particularly liked the end where the directors and artists discussed how they did their work. This is a fun fun movie. Well worth the money. Enjoy.
