Solid well built drive
I have purchased 3 drives in the past 60 days, each one has been dropped from 1 foot and does not work after! I am shocked that with no external damage at all the devices will not work. Approx $260 each and worthless! This drive has a rubber liner around it that looks like it may be able to handle a short fall. I won’t give it a chance though. I will mount it permanently so it can be knocked off my desk. It does seem a bit slower when transferring data, but I’m in no hurry. I hope this will be the last drive I have to purchase and losing data on three drives really sucks. This drive should solve that problem.

Tipped off by OWC
Saw a blog on OWC about this drive and how simple and reliable to use with a Mac. It has a nice protective soft gel housing over the drive and you must use AC to operate. There is a small off and one switch and a LED light that remains lit when in use. Pretty darn quiet, a very soft hum can be heard at times. There is no issues with overheating, disconnecting from the Mac during sleep, and all backups run quickly and without any fuss from my end. USB C drive cable is just the right length. A great purchase that allows me to backup using CCC and iDrive. Yes, I like to have redundant backups just in case.

Hard drive failed and now I have a problem
I bought this hard drive a year ago to back up all of my data from the last 20 years and now it seems to have failed! Is making weird sounds and not mounting. It's always had problems mounting, but yesterday it slowed down significantly and now it's just whirring and making this little whining sound every so often and the computer won't recognize it at all. This is going to be a huge problem for me! Wish I never bought it.

Great refurbished product
Product works perfectly but it was poorly packed for a hard drive. The packing could have been better. Works good.

Good backup drive
This review is for the Oyen Digital Novus 8TB External USB-C 7200RPM Hard Drive. Drive enclosure appears to have excellent build quality with a rubber-like external collar. Build quality of the the included USB cable with adapter is also good. Didn't measure actual data transfer speed, but is much faster than an older portable USB bus-powered drive that it replaced. The 8TB capacity should provide plenty of headroom for my backup needs (Time Machine backup for Mac Studio computer). So far all files checked are good, but I won't know about reliability for a few years ...

Unreliable Longterm
I have had this drive for just over 1 year and it periodically disappears and won't come back. At one point the drive said it was full yet also listed 8TB free. I had to reformat the drive again and I can only hope it stays functional. Today I woke up to yet another message the drive disconnected suddenly and it took me several power cycles before it would show up again. I hadn't heard of this brand when I bought the drive but figured I'd take a chance; I hate to admit I'm kicking myself for that.

Not noisy
Not really noisy, just what you would expect from spinning disks! I'm using it for TimeMachine, alternating between another 10T HDD I had. Not super fast, but this is a backup so don't care. Note that when a spinning disk fails, it is often possible to recover the data using a service. When an SDD fails, it is gone. I have cloud backup also, but why not have a fall-back for the backup.
