The Matte Finish Hood Shield for F-150 Platinum exceeded my expectations
Appearance: The matte finish of this hood shield adds a touch of sophistication to my F-150 Platinum. It enhances the overall look of the vehicle, giving it a more upscale appearance. The mold of the protector follows the body lines of the hood providing a clean finish.Installation: Following the provided instructions along with the included tips and tricks like starting from the middle and pulling back an inch of tape made the installation process a breeze. I encountered no difficulties during the installation, and everything went smoothly. The adhesive used to hold the shield in place has proven to be reliable, as I have experienced no issues with it so far. If I had one thing to improve it would have been the alignment of the shield along the edge of the hood (the outer edges are slightly uneven, see second photo)Overall, I am highly satisfied with this matte finish hood shield for my F-150 Platinum. It not only enhances the appearance of my truck but also provides functional benefits such as protection against debris and insects while driving. I would definitely recommend this product to other F-150 owners looking to upgrade their vehicle's look and functionality.

Stylish, purposeful, and reasonably priced.
Was a little skeptical at first on what kind of material this would be made out of and how true the fitment would be to my truck considering it says it is specific to a year and model. With that said, this is made out of your normal heavy duty abs plastic of some sort I imagine and it is definitely durable with a nice painted finish. A slight rough texture to it. The 3M stick on light strip will seem longer than the recessed area you are applying it to but trust me and just start from the middle and two ends with light pressure (get another set of hands for more accurate installation). Slide it a little left or right judging the middle LED lights (line them up with the middle of your ford logo) and then apply that light pressure to the entire strip. You will notice once you give the edges a firm press down and then proceed from left and right at the same time, the excess will just integrate into itself. This allows for flexibility maybe, should something like a rock hit it, the strip won’t be so stretched out and tight that the rubber will absorb the blow from rocks etc.. P.S. Go to car store. Buy quick connects red or blue in the electrical isle. Use that to tap into your fog light + and - wires. 2019 FORD F150 - IF YOU HAVE UPGRADED HEADLIGHT PACKAGE. This is because your headlight does not have removable bulbs as far as I can see. It’s just one plug going into my whole headlight unit. So with 20 maybe wires in that plug I did not want to find out which one was + and - Your fog light has two wires on its plug. Just unplug that from fog light and splice in your + and - wires from the bug deflector. (Just my personal experience).

Poor Quality form and very difficult to install
Form/Quality: The first one was not assymetric...laid on flat surface (see pic) and right side flat but left side turned up at a 45 degree angle near the end. It had to have been bent just to fit in the box. I returned that one for replacement. The 2nd one was better with only a slight bend near the end so I decided to try and install it. The AVS decal fell off the deflector when I opened up the plastic. I decided to leave it off thinking it would only come off later anyway. It took about 30 minutes to remove the glue residue with alcohol and cotton swabs.Installation: Had to stand on a step stool(I am 5'11") because hood is so high when opened. Deflector has slotted holes and they are filled with the chrome plating so that has to be removed first with a screwdriver or small knife etc. I removed the existing plugs from the seal and hood carefully with wire cutters, only getting the cutters under the head and then prying off and careful not to cut them in half leaving the plug in the hood. The female expansion plugs are so small and have to go in the deflector holes and into the hood but under the rubber hood seal. Very limited space and the deflector is not formed well to fit. I dropped the fasteners several times before losing one in the engine compartment somewhere. The reason they don't hold together and keep popping out, is there has to be no gap between the deflector and hood. So I had to squeeze it very tightly together with one hand and then insert the screw/plug which then causes the female plug to expand and then it held in place. I cut down a small plastic sheet rock molly and used a screw for the missing one. Once all 4 were secure I noticed that because of the amount of moving the deflector around to get it attached, the metal bracket clips installed in step 1 of the instructions had scratched my hood. Fortunately it was only where they are installed. I recommend skipping step 1 until ready to attach them to the hood. The final install looks great but a real pain to install. My Toyota TRD took about 10 minutes...this took over an hour on my F150.Summary: Other reviewers suggested self tapping screws and if mine come out, I will be doing that. The hood closed keeps it on so I'm not worried about it coming off at highway speeds and I think the 4 fasteners only keep it from shifting side to side (shear vs tensile). Final install looks great but very frustrating to install and I recommend an alternate method like screws. Hopefully the chrome finish will last. I'm saving the box and any issues with it will result in a return.
