Buy electric can opener because it's going to work!
This opener is not going to be supported by the screws in the mount going on the wall! They are very tiny, and I finally put this up on my wall only to see the mount pull right off as i tried to use it for the first time! I wasted my money on a piece of junk!

Could be made stronger
Wore out fast. I have purchased this brand years ago. Held up over 10 yrs. This one stopped cutting within a year and there is only two of us

Almost like the old fashioned one
My grandmother had one 50 years ago and it was one tough cookie. This is similar but it is liable to ride up and stop cutting the lid on some cheaper cans. But it does work well overall. And it is very easy on your hands.

Swing -a-way has changed, not for the good.
** UPDATE **Although I'm just getting around to writing this, the problems started about 6 months after purchase! At about 6 months post purchase/install, this unit started having issues "completely" opening the cans. It would star running off the cans with about an inch (or more) of can lid left to cut on every can - prior to this it had been a nuisance at every 5-6th can. If you didn't have your hand almost holding the can, it would end up in the sink (it's mounted on upper next to sink), better than on the floor, but still unacceptable. I contacted the manufacturer via email explaining the last unit (exact same model) lasted 5 years before this same thing happened, requiring this purchase. Five years, good item, 6 months, not so much.I've now sent this same email 4 times and still haven't received a response. I tried to get a read receipt, but their server won't accept email that requests that. It's very unfortunate, but I really can't recommend this unit anymore. Obvious differences in quality and quality control - along with only lasting 6 months - requires that I must suggest you look elsewhere for a wall mounted can opener.Hope this helps!** ORIGINAL REVIEW **I replaced a 5 year old swing-a-way (same model) with this one about 3-4 weeks ago - just before Christmas. Installation was simple I used the existing bracket and just had to pull the pin, put the new unit in the hinge and then replace the pin. This is why I gave 3 stars instead of 2. Functionality however, is not so great. The 5 year old unit was replaced because it was riding up on the rim of cans and not cutting through the lid - we use our opener just about daily. This new one started doing this after the first or second can. Also the magnet lid holder was bent wrong and won't hold the lid. It appears that swing-a-way is having a problem with QC.Hope this helps!

So convenient, easy to use. Why doesn't everybody have one?
This type of can opener has been around since this mid-boomer was a child. Seems like everybody had this type of can opener in the 50's - 60's, and I always had one in my house, but they became harder and harder to find. Fortunately they're still available from Amazon. This is such an easy can opener to use. Put the can up to the the blade, push the top lever down to secure the can, and just turn that big crank to open the can. The magnet pops the lid up. It installs to a cabinet above the the sink, and swings out of the way when not in use. So much easier than the hand kind that's so hard to tun. The only reason I see not to use this type of can opener is renters that aren't allowed to put screws in the side of the kitchen cabinet.I've given these to grown grandchildren who'd loved them. The only reason I just purchased this is to replace the 17-year old one whose blade has developed a flat spot and somehow lost its magnet attachment. This is a kitchen standard from my childhood that still beats any other can opener for ease of use and dependability during a power outage.

Love the concept but it needs to work longer than a few months
I haven't owned it a year and it's already dropping the cans and not cutting them. I've contacted the manufacturer for support I will update my post asap.
