Easy to program.
Excellent Radio. If you know how to program DMR then it is a breeze to program. From Radio or the CPS software. If you've never used DMR then it's gonna be tuff on you, but EVERY DMR Radio will be tuff on you. Give yourself a month to learn the DMR structure.

Radio burned out
Less than six months, the radios circuit board burned out. However, I purchased a new one due to the ease of use and ability to program analog, on the fly. Tough radio and works well in the different weather conditions. Good product but for safety I would have purchased the two year warranty in the beginning, I did this time.

Doesn’t Work
Radio turned on but died after 5 minutes. Charger lights up but doesn’t charge the radio. So now I have a $130 paper weight that once I return this item it says it will take 30 days to refund. Don’t know why they can’t just send me a new one that actually works. TYT are great radios and I use them for my job daily. This one was a lemon.

An inexpensive but capable dual band DMR radio
The TYT MD-UV390 is an inexpensive but very capable dual-band DMR radio.Pros:UHF & VHF Dual Band RadioAudio sounds good on the both receiving and transmitted audio.DMR is capable, compatible with other DMR (unencrypted) handhelds, and crystal clear.Price is almost impossible to beat for a DMR radio.IP67 RatingIncredibly durable radioGood battery life and longevity (and cheap to replace, unlike most radio batteries)Basic encryption optionsCons:Encryption is not compatible with other non-TYT radiosEncryption options are weak and would be easy to crack with the right toolsDual channel functions are somewhat clunky (although functional). It feels like they made a workaround to make the single-channel MD-390 menu system work in a dual-channel mode.Loss of the superhet receiver that was found in the MD-380's and MD-390's.Overall Review:For the money, this is by far the best dual-band digital radio you can buy. Anything better will cost at least 2x to 30x more. Ultimately the TYT UV-MD390 is a great dual-band radio. If you don't need dual-band capabilities I would highly suggest looking at the TYT MD-390 or TYT-MD380 single-band radios with superhet receivers. That being said, I have worked with many TYT-MD380/390's and TYT UV-MD380/390's and I have never been able to hear the difference in the receiver. Generally speaking, most of us enjoy having both UHF & VHF at our fingertips, which makes this radio very attractive.

Great Little Radio - Had an Issue But Found a Solution!
It's a great sounding and performing radio. I had an issue when I got it that it was asking for a password when I powered it on and when I tried to program it with the computer but here's the workaround!I did seem to find a workaround –Remove Password MD380/901. Go to folder the CPS is in (C:\TYT)2. look for file - setting.ini3. Right click and edit4. password=0 change to password=password5. SaveConnect radio to PC and turn on in normal mode.a. Read Code plug from radio.b. General Settings remove all 3 passwordsc. Save Code plugd. Write back to radio

USB driver is an issue
Functionally the radio is OK. But programming it is an issue. The USB driver is a generic one from the manufacturer of the chip. But it is an old version. You can't use the newer ones. So if you use Win10 the OS automatically updates the driver. So you need to change the driver through Device Manager every time you plug in a radio.
