Q: I am looking for a sensor that can be hidden under a plastic surface, would this be able to detect though a sheet of acrylic?

Not sure about a clear sheet. I thought I had a piece and I would give it a try but I did not. I did have a sheet of anti-glare and it did set it off so that material clarity will definitely not work.

Yes. Its only digital. There are similar devices with analog interfaces such as a QRE1113.
