Can I just apply this even though I don't have the other things for it, like the shampoo and what not?

I am not a professional, but in addition to the cream relaxer, you AT LEAST need petroleum jelly to protect your hairline, ears and nape area (the perimeter of your head); and you need a neutralizing shampoo, and although the company may recommend it, it does not have to be the same brand as the relaxer, just as long as it says 'neutralizing' shampoo.

Will this 14 ounce jar do a head of long to the shoulder hair? Is it enough for that amount of hair? Thank you in advance.

Depends on how thick the hair is and if this is the first relaxer. If the hair is already relaxed then only the roots should be touched up to avoid hair damage. If only doing the roots for a touch up I would say yes. If doing long thick hair from root to tip, I would buy 2 just to be safe. If you use an applicator brush then you would use/waste less product.

Can i use regular neutralizer shampoo

I've found that although any Neutralizer shampoo will "work" ....But it's always best to go with the same brand as The Relaxer you're using, you tend to get better and longer lasting results.
