It's good, I like it, flooring isn't as messy

I don't usually get so excited I write a review before using a product. I was so excited to get this, I wanted to do this review right now. The product is well made. I ordered both this one and the Better Breader that is longer and flatter. Being able to make blooming onions was a bonus.Normally when I fry chicken tenders or fish or shrimp, the mess is just so very much to deal with. I coat first in egg wash then go to dry seasoned flour or flour/cornmeal mix. This one can hold the egg and the other one can hold the flour and I am down to two dishes. You don't want to know how many I usually use but for fun, here goes:First I crack the eggs in a coffee cup and mix them up, then I pour them over the meat in a large bowl, then I get to use my hands to make sure everything gets coated, then there is another Tupperware container I have mixed my flour cornmeal and seasoning in, I drop them into that in small batches and shake them. Then they get stacked on a plate as they wait their turn for the frier. If they sit too long, its back to the flour mix, shake shake shake. Wash hands 50 times, somehow have flour everywhere.Since I have used everything from Walmart bags, paper bags, ziplock bags before settling on the Tupperware container as best, I feel confident about this product actually being better than that. I love the way it is designed, you are easily able to hold it together for security as you shake and the lids are nice and tight. My battered projects are even more of a pain so I don't often make those Sweet and Sour Golden Spears my daughter loves. Even if I never learn to make a blooming onion, she will be cooking her favorite Chinese dish quite often with this. So get it, in fact, its best to have them both.If I use it and find I was wrong about it, I'll update this. However, I must warn you, this is a simple cleverly designed product and there is very little I could be wrong about. I know better than to melt in on the bottom rack of the dishwasher. I really really love these products!

I tried to make a Bloomin Onion with the tool that it comes with. Maybe if you practice alot it would work. But the breader itself is great! I feel like I get a much better, even coating on whatever I am breading. I have also used it with a batter and it worked perfect. You don't get your hands so messy, and it makes the whole process so much quicker.

This bread crumb/panko shaker works excellent. My chicken breast were never dressed so well.

I'm very disappointed in this item because it's only 50%. The breader is great and I could use it to bread other items. But the onion slicer is terrible. Everybody knows that you use a large vedalia or Bermuda onion to make a blooming onion. The slicer is only large enough to hold a conventional yellow onion. These guys obviously did not do their homework as to what a blooming onion is which originated obviously in the outback steakhouse. On top of that the instructions are not great. the onion needed to be spread out more before it was breaded. It only ended up breaded on the first one or two layers the entire middle of the onion was without breading.

A must have to home-make a blooming onion. Easy to use if you follow the instructions. I also use mine for breading Crappie and Bluegills in bulk, since they are small fillets.

Haven't used as often as I thought I would, but works great. Easy cleanup as it's dishwasher safe.
