The greatest thing since sliced bread!
This little aquarium vacuum is wonderful! I have a new 50 gallon turtle aquarium for my 2 juvenile Eastern Painted Turtles, with about 20 gallons of water in it. I was finding a lot of debris on the bottom - I think the filter was shredding the turtle poop and spitting it back into the water. I was trying to scoop up the debris with a small net, but not having much luck. This little vacuum works wonders, and now my aquarium is so much cleaner! The turtles haven't said much, but I know they appreciate the cleaner aquarium!

Good suction that's safer around small fish
Update: Now giving four stars after many months of using a replacement unit. I can give this product a higher recommendation. I have not had any problems with the motor on this second unit. I'm now even using it with a 50ft siphoning hose to directly power send water to the sink. Fits a 5/8 diameter hose very well. Much better than the thin, ribbed hose that's included with the unit. It's fraying at the ends, and the ribs makes the inside more difficult to dry and can lead to algae, mold, or fungal growth.Three stars for design and accessories that met my needs but low motor quality. The unit comes with a ball mesh attachment (sand wash head) that keeps small fish from being sucked into the system. I use it around small Kuli Loaches and 3 month baby fish without sucking them up. Also, I first tried using the system with the duckbill shaped suction, and did suck up one of my loaches and baby fish. I was pleased to find both fish alive and well in my water bucket. This system, apparently, has a better water flow-through system than similar products. One of the reasons I picked this system was the sand head. Other products I tried would kill the fish if they sucked them into their fan/blade chamber.Faster water suction rate than most other systems I've tried. I had to increase my sweeping speed along the bottom of the tank because the system filled my water bucket so much faster.Unfortunately, my unit stopped working after 2 months. Motor failure within 6 months is the main reason why I've tried several of these types of products. It would be nice if a well known and trusted company in the aquarium hobby would make a quality product to help with tank cleaning. I hope that most consumers would be willing to pay more for a quality product that worked well and had a motor system that didn't wear out. Because it's safer around my small fish, I'll try another one of these. Amazon did refund the broken unit.

DO NOT BUY
I’m new to fish keeping. I bought this product to make water changes easy. The first time I ordered it, after somehow managing to assemble (good luck with the worthless manual) I realized it came without a connector for the head attachments. Accidents happen, no problem! I sent it back in exchange for a new one. New one comes over a week later. Perfect - it’s time for my first water change.I have a ten gallon tank - from my research a water change shouldn’t take that long. I get everything set up and drain the water. After shutting the machine off once I’d pumped out the desired amount of water, it still continued to suck water out of my tank, overflowed my bucket and spewing water all over my floor. Thank GOD I have a Bissell Little Green Machine. Alright I know how to fix that, I’ll throw some towels down in the meantime.I begin to work my way through the sand cleaning heads and start to attempt to clean my gravel. As I mentioned, I’m new to this so I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure a gravel vacuum is supposed to VACUUM up the debris stuck in the gravel. Nope - just stirred it up and made a mess.So here I am with my machine not sucking up debris, my tank more than halfway empty and I have no choice but to remove my fish, clean the gravel and return the fish. This process has taken at least five hours at this point, and my fish don’t appear to be doing well from so much change so quickly.I’m returning this machine for the second time now. I don’t want another and I encourage you to NOT order this piece of junk.

Works great but died after only 3 months of use :,(
I loved this pump while it lasted. I bought it in early January 2025. And it just died today, in April 2025. :( I only had a single 20 gallon tank, then switched over to a 40 gallon tank. I was emptying my 20 gallon tank when it died randomly. The motor just stopped working suddenly. I tried different plugs but nope :/ didn’t get the power button wet or anything, not sure how else to explain it. It’s quiet, great flow, nice design. Not sure it was worth the money I spent given that it only lasted 3 months :,( sad.
