Easy & accurate
My cat was just diagnosed with diabetes; I’m diabetic too so tried using my own meter with her but it was requiring more blood than I could get from her and wasting strips. This meter was so much easier, I feel like the lancing device works better and a lot less blood needed. I checked it against my own meter a couple of times with myself and it’s accurate.

Genteel works like magic!
I’m completely satisfied with this product. The Genteel device is definitely a game changer. Easy and always a perfect dot of blood. Before I purchased this one, I used the same lancet device I use on myself. Poor fur baby had to be poked numerous times just to get a drop of blood. This Genteel is the only way to go.

Very recommended!
I would recommend this over the Alphatrak 3. Easier to use. Easier to read and its cheaper. It also takes regular AAA batteries over the cell batteries. A very good reader all in all.

Don't waste your money or your time. Find another company who cares. Pet Test does NOT !!
Ordered this on 5/2 - rec'd 5/3 & it's a piece of crap. I called their customer service line that's avail 24/7, that was a waste of time. We had only a couple days left to complete a curve on our dog, they wouldn't send new test strips OR a new monitor (as the others gave only "HI" readings) they said they would escalate it and call me back. They did neither. I called them the following day to see how they were going to solve this and, you guessed it, another waste of time. NOW.... because their product isn't worth diddly, after spending $110 on their kit and an additional $40 on new test strips, we have to pay our veterinarian to do the curve in their hospital. I have STILL not heard back from them, and I ordered test strips from them on my own that took 2 days to get here, those didn't work either but since they aren't interested in helping customers who have foolishly given them $150 , THIS customer is sending their crap machine back to them and cautioning anyone considering purchasing this product, NOT TO. Don't waste your time, don't waste your money, and don't believe for one second that they will make it right through their customer service department.... they will NOT. I will be 'escalating' this myself with Amazon. They should NOT be able to lie to Amazon Customers. They need to be accountable and responsible and they are neither. I gave one star only because I had to, but they don't deserve it!! EDIT: prior to this review being posted, but triggered by both items being returned, I FINALLY got their attention. I received an email from them, offering to send us items FREE (until we found out if they worked or not) and then added: "THIS TIME we will be there for you with our customer care department, 24/7 use of our video department and help in any way we can". I responded: THIS TIME? Shouldn't you 'be' there ANYONE giving you $110.00 for your glucose monitoring kit, from the get go? The fact that isn't automatic for you is concerning. Especially given the fact they claim to be such loving and caring folk when it comes to serving pet owning families. I told them their product wasn't even worth 'free' and that I wasn't interested. Again.... if you're considering a purchase with this company, I'd seriously suggest you don't. Because of their lack of interest, and our dependence of their product doing what it was suppose to do, we ended up paying another $500 to our vet to have them do the curve. I love my dog, I don't regret helping him, but this additional expense could have been avoided had they only gave a care about a 'pet owning family' like they claim. This is what they do, no one forced them to do this job, offer these products or make the claims they make! One would only think they would be willing to keep their word, offer good products and stand behind them.... Is that asking too much? Apparently so!!

Decent monitor
We bought this as a backup for another glucose monitor as the strips were arriving late for the other. I have been caring for our diabetic old pup for 7 years, so I have quite a lot of experience with many different monitors. This monitor is fairly simple to use and requires a very small amount of blood, which is nice on days when bleeding is minimal or your pet doesn't want to cooperate. The test strip sucks up the blood quickly and automatically starts reading when it has enough blood. This monitor does only go up to 600, which might be an issue if you are still trying to adjust the insulin amount needed. The largest variance we have had between our two monitors or multiple tests in the same few minutes with this monitor is 30 mg/dL. If you're newer to caring for a diabetic pet, this could cause some difficulties.Overall, this monitor is easy to use, easy to setup, and fairly accurate. If you are receiving errors, be sure the strip is inserted with the white side facing you and you have a drop of blood ready before putting the strip to the blood.

Get this ONE!
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Love this monitor and the app for tracking blood sugar and sending data to Vet. Strips are cheaper than other monitors and need a very small amount of blood! Get this one!

Mixed feelings about this
We suspected that our elderly dog might be diabetic. Ordered this kit to check his blood sugar before taking him to the vet and getting results that would cost us hundred's of dollars. I'm diabetic so am very familiar with using a lancet to draw blood and then using a meter to check the numbers. Tried multiple times to draw blood using the lancet included in the kit. Tried multiple areas on our Lab mix and was unable to get a single drop of blood. Used the lancet that I use on my fingers daily, and easily got a drop of blood that the tester accepted and gave us his numbers. He isn't diabetic. So I have mixed feelings about this kit. I know the tester works, but was unable to draw blood after repeated tries with the included lancet. And yes I read the directions and tried it on different areas, the inside of his ear and the pads of his feet. Too much hair in other areas.
