Hardiest Bare Root Strawberry Plants I've Ever Seen
Confession time. I ordered these bare root strawberry plants, and when they arrived I was dealing with a family member's major health crisis. Needless to say, I did not get these plants potted right away. I did not put them in the fridge. Instead the package remained on the front seat of my car for a week. When I finally opened them, they were in very, very bad shape. Totally my fault. Out of the 24 plants, I saw 6 I thought might be salvagable. So I potted those six, thinking they were done for. Every single one of those 6 plants have put out new leaves...after being suffocated in the package, in my car, in 80°F heat for a week. I can only imagine how these plants would have thrived had I been able to pot them immediately upon arrival. So yeah...if you're looking for plants with an incredible will to live, buy these. Just don't leave them in the car for a week, k?

Healthy, plants— follow the provided instructions
I received two extra plants and they arrived well packaged. Following the provided instructions, I soaked the strawberry bare roots in water. Using play sand, I created a 30/70 sand:soil mix. The next day I planted the bare roots, which looked like they were waking from a snooze. Over the next three days they appeared a little sad. On the fourth day, they looked alive. I’m on day seven, and wow, they are looking very happy. None died. I made sure to keep the soil moist by watering generously in the mornings. I look forward to harvesting strawberries this summer.

Wow! Impressive growth!
I've tried repeatedly to plant strawberries from seed only to fail every time. I decided finally to try bare root strawberries and picked up this set of 10. First of all, I received 13 which is an excellent bonus. I didn't even need to clean them up, there were no dark roots and the crowns were in nice condition. I stuck them into my A-Frame NFT hydroponic system 4 days ago and already have 2-3 new leaves growing on every single one. This is INSANE. I can't believe how quickly these things are growing. I couldn't recommend these more to anyone. If you want strawberries, and don't want to hassle with germination and waiting a long time to grow - get THESE. I will be ordering a lot more very soon. Just need to empty out some of my tubes first.

Plan Accordingly
These were delivered on the 2nd of May and were placed in the ground on the 3rd. I received 26 roots. I soaked the roots and placed them in the ground as required. Out of the 26 only 22 are alive. So if you’re planning on filling a bed, I would expect some to not make it through the process.

Hydro friendly, small space friendly
First time growing hydroponic anything, second time growing strawberries but first time by bare root. Started these off in a half-assed Kratky system (read: plunked them in a mason jar of tap water) and moved them to my deep flow unit once space opened up. Pinched most of the early flowers and runners but all 5 are producing and one gave me a double-header. Best part is, they are a shorter cultivar so I can grow them on the lower tiers. For sweet berries, red +3 (nce they are fully red, count 3 days.)

Beginner friendly, HUGE growth in no time
I’ve honestly never left an Amazon review (and I shop here a LOT), but my praise for these strawberries needs to be heard! I ordered 15 bare root plants but I was sent 17 - thank you! I soaked the roots in water for about an hour on the day they arrived (first photo), then I planted them in soil I mixed myself (something I’ve never done before but the seller had such great instructions I figured I might as well follow them) 30% play sand & 70% soil - I used fox farm soil. Literally less than 24 hours after I planted them I started to see new growth. I planted them Monday night, these photos are Friday morning. I cannot BELIEVE the growth! I live in upstate NY and I have been bringing the plants outside during the day and in at night, since it’s still chilly here. Can’t wait to see the berry yield! If the harvest is anything like what I’m currently experiencing I think I’m going to have a lot of berries!

Did not receive all 10. Roots okay, some great but some not great
I wasn’t 100% sure how I felt about these at first as most of the crowns I received seemed really small/thin. I also did not receive 10 like I ordered— I only received 7. Two were dead on arrival so I had to toss. One was struggling, which I’m trying to revive. So I took stars off because I essentially paid for 10 and only received 5 that I could plant. It looks like this has been a problem for other people as well, which makes me wonder if they have low inventory and are knowingly giving customers smaller cuts/less than they ordered to not run out (which obviously isn’t okay). But anyways, I attached a picture of how they are doing now. They have been planted for about 2.5 weeks. The one that was struggling is still struggling. The two that did have better sized crowns are doing great. I feel like those ones represent the listing & what I was expecting to receive, so it’s a shame there were only two. The last two had really small crowns, and they are okay, but they aren’t making much growth/their growth is really thin. They look more like snips of underdeveloped runners, so I’m interested to see if they produce fruit or not. Those ones were also the ones that were difficult to plant because their roots were on their sides.Anyways, I think if I had received 10 bare roots that resembled the good sized crowns, I would have given 5 stars. However, I’m only giving 2 stars because I only received 5/10 that were in planting condition, which is just really not okay, especially when the company is already on notice that they have been shorting orders.

“Easy to plant” strawberries.
These were super easy to plant. I only had about 2/3 of them thrive but the ones that did look really great.
