Perfect for an outing
I am a solo camper. I’ve just returned from my camping trip using this particular SUV tent. I really liked it. I’m glad I practiced setting it up before I left because like all SUV tents, it can be a bit confusing. But having had another SUV tent, I figured it out quickly. The covering over the top of the vehicle provides protection from the rain from your equipment if needed. I didn’t need it but it’s there if ever…it was windy and raining a couple of my days camping, and I just climbed into my SUV bed and the tent provided a closed in screen and kept the rain out. It was incredibly comfy! The awning cannot be used in wind but it is easy to set up and a nice cover for my cooking table. The little awning is also used to fully enclose the back of the vehicle if needed. For the price, it served me well.If you want to camp on a budget like me, this SUV tent is worth the price

Securely and easily connects to 4Runner
Very much like how the top part comes way forward over the roof to help hold in place. The straps in back also provide secure and tight mounting. With the tailgate up and this tailgate tent get enough extra length to sleep comfortably on air-inflated mattress in back of 4Runner. Before using this tailgate tent could not stretch out. Now, have long mattress that sticks out over bumper. Can get in and out from the back but find it much more convenient to use the rear passenger doors to get in and out. Using rear passenger doors is easier reach to the ground with added bonus of not needing to open and then close the rear cover or netting. Easy to install and to take off. Remarkably, folds back into small package that fits the storage bag.

As expected for the price
Easy for one person to install. I have a 2015 Prius 3 and this fits pretty well. Since it is made to fit several SUV models, there are adjustable straps to cinch around the hatchback area, the mirrors, handlebars and/or wheels for a decent fit. I am thinking of buying some strip magnets to hold the loose fabric closer to the hatchback opening to keep out the bugs. The tent fabric is really lightweight and will probably tear easily with misuse, but if you take your time making your adjustments, it should stay in place without tearing. You can always use something to protect sharp corners if necessary. The instructions recommend using the tent mainly in shaded conditions as sun will deteriorate the fabric over time. The manufacturer uses seam seal tape on almost all the seams on the reverse side of the fabric, except for where the screen and awning are stitched on. Those seams have no protection and this area would be the first place to leak when the hatchback is up. Some reviewers complained about major leaks the first time it rained and I thought this was funny because the very first recommendation in the instructions is to use a seam sealer against potential leaks! Having read that review before my purchase, I bought GEAR AID's Seam Grip WP Waterproof Sealant and Adhesive for Tents and Outdoor Fabric and sealed all seams where there wasn't seam tape on the reverse side of the fabric. I also plan to spray the exterior with a silicone sealant for extra protection. The awning pole construction is better than I expected, but they will bend with misuse or if the tent is caught in a windstorm. There are five sections of tubing that fit together for each pole. I might use gorilla tape to strengthen a couple of the sections to add some strength. The ground stakes are those little flimsy L-shaped kind. I'll probably get a couple of corkscrew stakes for different ground conditions. I intend to write an updated review once I use it for a few months this summer. Overall, I think this product will perform as expected with proper use and care.

Camping or Clamping!
I just turned my 2021 Subaru Outback into a camper! This product went on my car like a great! I am only 5’ 4” so I struggled a little bit getting it up and over, but it’s lightweight enough that if you gather enough material and get one corner secured before you throw it up and over you can manage the rest! It is well constructed, and the zippers slide nicely. The poles were easy to assemble and the over hang awning met my expectations. The only issue I have is the instructions stated I have to purchase some type of sealant to spray on the seams. I guess you can spray it while it’s on your car to ensure you get all the seams, but what will it do to the cars paint?.. so the fact that it isn’t really ready to go right at first is disappointing, but you really want it to be waterproof because your hatch is open and vulnerable. I haven’t gone on my trip yet so I will post an update after it’s in action.

Best Purchase of 2023
I used to do a lot of backpacking but now me and my dog are old and out of shape. The tailgate tent allows us to car camp whenever we want. It's easy to install. Once you do it the first time it becomes very simple. It keeps out the bugs. The awning is great. Plop a camp chair and dog bed down and we're campin in style. The material is a lot thicker than i thought it would be. much tougher than typical tent material. I'm confident it will hold up.The awning can be lowered and used as a door. I recommend lowering the awning when its raining hard so water doesnt build up and damage the poles.I wish i had one of these years ago!

A little big but keeping
I have a 2019 Kona SEL. I put it on my car the day it arrived as a trial run. I did it by myself to see if it could be done since I’m 4’11. I managed with the top part but it wasn’t even. The straps to use on the side mirrors are too long so I have to tie it differently. I can see flaps on top that bugs can get in.The back portion seems pretty secure to not let any insects in. It was super easy to set that part up. I didn’t use the stakes/strings to put up the canopy.

Very disappointed in this product
I got this tent today and went to set it up and on the side awning the loops are missing on each side to put the rope through so you can secure the awning. Was very excited about this item. Was going to take it camping with me in 2 days and now I can’t cause the awning just flaps around. The photos are of the missing loops to put the other 2 ropes through to stake them down
