Mystery, faith and religion come together in this beautiful piece of fantasy🤌
•• INSIGHT: Pranay Bhalerao's "The Protected Rakshasa KAAL" is a mix between fantasy and reality and a mind boggling addition to the KAAVACH trilogy. It not only is an eye opener towards redefining evil and good, it also manages to change perspectives of its readers towards what the contemporary society would term as ungodly. Toggling between history and modern society, the tale talks about an orphan taken in by a poor family of potters, and then narrates the journey of his wisdom and psychological growth. It also shows us the other side of rakshasas, as described by our scriptures, on what and why they became what they are known as. The effect of power and karma is well narrated and is quite elaborately described in the story.••REVIEW: The author has done a great job in combining research with fantasy. It is well understood that Pranay is a person with deep faith guiding his thoughts, and his art of developing multi- faceted characters is quite exposed in the narrative. The story is in-depth, excellent in language and opens a well-built pathway and interest for its next edition.••Favourite Line: “ When you have to choose one path out of one right sand one wrong, the choice is easy. But when life throws a situation at you where you need to decide the convenient path out of two rights and two wrongs will be Dharma and Adharma for you.”••STRENGTH: There is a lot of history and in-depth understanding of storylines that is well communicated between the reader and the author. Not for once will the narrative feel boring or exaggerated to its readers••WEAKNESS: Might not be a good pick for those looking for simple reads, needs quite a whole lot of perspective and interest in this genre••TARGET READERS: Young adults ••GENRE: Mythological Fiction•• RATING: 4.4/5

A fascinating saga of freindship and fate. Will love to read read.
Pranay Bhalerao did wonders with the second book in the KAVAACH trilogy. After the first book, THE PROTECTORS OF THE KAVAACH, every reader, including myself was left wondering about KAAL. KAAL might have been a rakshasa in name, but he was so loyally guarded by his kind and so devoted to his creators that it made questions arise. Was Kaal really as evil as portrayed to be?The second instalment gave us an understanding of KAAL and his origins. It began with a very detailed description in 650 BCE in Avantika Nagari, also known to modern-day as Ujjain. There we got to witness a holy ritual performed by an AGHORI SAGE that granted him immorality. The descriptions of the city are so beautifully constructed that they teleport you right there. Even when the process of Shav-Sadhna was explained, the eerie illustration gave even more life to the story. The story proceeds as we witness the Gondwana Empire in 622 BCE in modern-day Madhya Pradesh. Zonta and Sutra’s friendship was one of a kind and so was the relationship between Sutra and Agni.As the story goes on, the plot thickens. On every page, there are incidents you do not expect to happen. The title first makes sense when we learn about the re-birth of the Aghori sage in the form of Agni and Sutra’s son.We move forward seamlessly switching between timelines of ancient history and the present day. The connections are depicted so well that every time a mystery unravelled, it had my jaw on the floor. Several characters are introduced who play some or the other part in KAAL’s story, taking the profundity of the story to another level.Once again, the book ends on a cliffhanger leaving the readers salivating for yet another book. This book is sure to be once in a lifetime experience for the readers who inhale and exhale in mythological fiction.
