If you wonder about BS-3621, you need this.
Despite the TV advert stating that we don't know whether our locks conform to BS-3621, insurance companies continue to ask for it. I had Wickes locks on my Wickes conservatory, and there are no visible markings on those to verify any British Standard conformity, though they seem pretty sturdy. I decided to fit these Yale locks that do definitely conform and are embossed as such. The actual lock mechanism was easy enough to swap in. There are just two screws on the edge holding the lock in place, and one has to remove one door handle to take out the handles' spindle to let the lock come out.Now we come to the tricky bit, and I had read another reviewing hinting at trouble: the strike plate needs to be positioned slightly differently for the catch to line up. The lock itself is OK, but the door won't stay shut. In my case, the strike plate needed to move up by 5mm, and out by 2.5mm. I did also note that even if the strike plate had fitted in the correct place, the 4 screw holes were not positioned the same, requiring filling the old holes and drilling new ones. The new screws were also wider. This is despite the packing saying that the lock is compatible with all locks. Well, I suppose the lock is, but the strike-plate wasn't. I had to carefully chisel out the recess at the top and outside edge, plus remove the 2.5mm from the door to make way for the newly positioned strike-plate. Go at it slowly and gently or the wood might split where you don't want. Looking at my photos, a bit of remedial filler might not go amiss.Once the door alterations were made, the new lock catches properly and all is well. I gave the lock a spray of WD40 to keep it smooth too, that's an annual job anyway. The whole job took me maybe 90 minutes per lock. First one was a revelation, I knew what to expect for the second.I did also note that the old Wickes lock had a different-shaped end-plate that covered the exposed inside view of the lock, which kept it neat. The new lock only has a flat end-plate that leaves a cm or so of exposed workings on the inside. Not as neat, but mostly covered when the door is closed, and not accessible from outside, which is the main thing. The Wickes cover plate is not compatible as the door latch and lock are in slightly different places, plus that's the part that has the kitemark.Money well-spent to keep the insurance company happy and hopefully stop the burglars from getting in. You only have to do this job once.

Good solid lock with reinforced bolt.
Quite happy with this lock, and if I’d been fitting it into a new door I think fitting would have been very straightforward. Unfortunately the lock I was replacing was smaller all round and because of all existing cut-outs it wasn’t possible to drill and make a neat mortise either in the door or on the door frame for the strike plate. The lock was supplied with a sheet of diagrams showing all the measurements and how to make the mortice. Cutout templates were also supplied to mark drill positions for the mortices, and handle & keyhole positions for the lock itself. The lock itself, and the strike plate are very solid and appear well-made. The metal is thicker than on a similar couple of Legge locks I’ve fitted in the past. The lock comes with two keys.My only complaint is the plastic sealed clamshell packaging which threatens to cut your fingers as you attempt to extract the contents. What on earth is wrong with a cardboard box?Other than that very happy with it and I have no doubt it will give good service.

Relatively easy to fit, and works well
I got this to replace our previous 5-lever lock which had started to get sticky and difficult to lock sometimes.Since replacement it is much easier to lock/unlock the door now, so that's good.It was quite easy to fit, but I don't know why Yale seem to *slightly* change the design on every iteration. That means that, even though we were replacing a similar 5-lever Yale lock, I still had to get my chisel out to extend the hole for the door strike plate, so that would fit, and use matchsticks to fill previous screw holes so that this would fit properly. Also, I wish they'd sell locks with more than 2 keys. We always need to go and get a bunch cut, and cut keys are often less reliable than the originals. If they sold one with 6 keys, then I'd definitely go for that instead.

Excellent product
A good price for an excellent product. Always feel the screws supplied are a bit on the small side , especially the ones that go into the door frame holding on the striker plate , so I tend to replace these screws with much longer ones that actual pass through drilled clearance holes in the door frame & into wall plugs fitted into the brickwork behind the frame. A bit over the top , but much stronger.

Excellent product
Has a really good solid feel to it, and the mechanism feels built to last... simple switch with previous lock.

Good value lock
Bought one, was more than pleased so got a second one. They were replacing two old locks which have lasted 25 years so pretty much straight replacement for 2.5" 5 lever lock, just needed to deepen the cut out as these seem marginally deeper but we are only talking an eighth of an inch.

Okay but not ideal - 2.5" sashlock 5-lever
This works, it seems to have anti-drill plates stuck to either side, so I was not able to make a straight forward replacement but had to finely chisel some extra space either side.A little more expensive than union and takes up more dead-space. The bolt seems sturdy, only time will tell. What I got looks nothing like the photos which have all changed but the dimensions are as described.
