High Grade Bullet & Headspace Comparator Set by Derraco Engineering

The gauges and adapter are extremely well produced. There is zero slop when they are assembled. That along with four-screw caliper attachment means you are able to get accurate and +highly repeatable+ measurements. Hat makes this set much more trustworthy and accurate than my “red and grey” set by far. This Derraco Australia set is also a better value.The storage box is well padded and cut outs are exactly the right size for the dies, so they are secure in storage. For my convenience, I would have loved a box with a full length hinge—or at least a more secure top on this tin. It doesn’t do justice to your work.Highly recommended.

Derraco Engineering makes such finely machined and finished tools that they’re not just perfectly functional but an absolute pleasure to own! This kit is superbly precise, comprehensive and just real sexy too! But seriously, if you need to measure the consistency of your reloading efforts, you need this kit.As I’m a big fan of this company (and just a customer), you should check out their amazing PCPS primer seating tool and Ugly Annealer (no judgement here, that’s what they call it). Both are incredible values and very well designed! The PCPS seems to perform as well, if not better than a particular high-end precise primer seater that costs more then 3 times the price. Have spent months testing various factory loads for 7 RM and 6.5 CRDMR. From there, began reload ladders finding a happy place. That is never enough for me and required this kit to compare what works and what doesn't. First are the headspace gauges to determine that shoulder length, which allows me to compare fired shoulder vs my final load. Hoping that little tweak and control will improve consistency. Second is the bullet comparators. At first, wasn't sure what to do with these. Little research and realized that Ogive (CBTO) for each bullet makes a difference in bullet jump vs cartridge overall length (COL). I started to look at each factory round and how much difference there is. This kit is a HUGE data point I was missing before, especially if considering reloading between match vs hunting bullets - consistency is the best policy! Regarding the kit and case, the title speaks for itself as "High Grade". Fit and finish excellent; Lettering excellent; Foam insert excellent; Case decent. What I really appreciated that did not see in the item pictures was the lid provides a guide for the bullet headspace gauges. Use caution here, really take heed to the calculations provided in the description (some of the size recommendations did not match the calculations). You can follow the guide first but if question that middle shoulder point, do the calculation to confirm. I did measure several sample headspace gauges and bullet comparators which all were within 1000ths of an inch. Super happy!

Good kit decent price. Buy the extra anvil it helps steady the cartridge case.

This kit contains all necessary comparator gage sizes for Headspace and Ogive measurements. It includes a tin container with foam slots for storage. Gages are clearly marked in large characters for eye sight challenged individuals. The headspace gage's edge are sharp so the measurements almost matches SAAMI specifications. That is awesome. The gages screw into the steel base which is better than using a jam screw. Skip the 'red H' brand since it does not include a storage box and is just as good or better in a quality product.

So far so good. I owned the hornady ones and these felt more quality and more bang for the buck. Not sure the difference between this brand and other big other then a huge mark up in price. These are great and repeatable for my measurements.Case could be nicer.I would recommend.
