This 3rd generation Stingray is definitely worth the additional cost over the 2nd generation. I originally ordered a 2nd gen and after seeing it up, found minor damage. Since planning the order, the 3rd gen became available and I ordered it after returning the 2nd gen.While I'm not a huge guy (6', 200#) the larger trap door makes a huge difference in getting into and out of the tent.The added cargo nets under each corner of the tent is also a great upgrade, allowing you to stow more fear out of the elements & of the ground, while not needing to clutter the interior of the tent.Lastly, is the addition of 2 more entryways to the tent. They are convenient, especially while the rainfly is of off. However, this was not much of a selling point for me, as I plan to have the tent about 7' from the ground and will be using a ladder to get in, via the center hatch.I set up my originally purchased from gen 2 tent at a friend's house to someone it before the 1 month timeframe for Amazon exchanges (and found minor damage). So, when setting up & inspecting this 3rd generation, it was my second time setting up a Stingray and I did so on a set of trees that I knew to work well for this purpose. It took me less than 15 minutes to set it up alone, having the straps at about 7' (the highest I could easily reach without a step stool or ladder).The rainfly too me another 5-10 minutes. I probably should have put the flu on before raising the tent up to its tensioned higher, as it was hard to put on alone at such a large height. I will add that the 3rd generation fly required a little more attention to ensure you have it properly oriented. The seams on top should align with the poles. Once done properly, this 3rd generation Stingray does a much better job keeping the fly from coming into contact with the tent mesh (versus the 2nd generation that I had set up). The only issue that I had with the fly is that, even with the adjustment straps all the way out, connecting the 3rd side into the ratchet handle was extremely difficult. It seemed a little to short. I'm hoping it was just me missing something. I'll have a better idea soon, when I do another "dry run" setup.Unfortunately, I won't have a chance for any reason world feedback on the Stingray until my spring camping trip. I'll do an update after that.

We love sleeping in the Tensile. In fact, after our first trip my wife said our bed at home was almost as comfortable. The issues are in finding three trees spaced and positioned correctly to set up the tensile. Additionally, it does not support heavy people, unless you like the other occupants sliding down to you on your side of the triangle.

I placed it inside a geodesic dome and it works great. I placed a tentsile hammock at the first level and use that to get into the tent that is higher in the air to make it feel like a tree house. This tent isn’t cheap but it is a high quality product.

I love it just when you go to set it up high enough that you can hang out underneath it and even if it is raining you still dry

i paid $500 for a gen 1 on groupon back in 2017. it's been to 16 different states and even thrown it up in banff omw to alaska. people always get a kick out of it, especially if you have it up high.this isn't automatic, though. there are 'issues'. you'll learn how to spot the places you can put it up. it seems like i had a 50% success rate on the parks i went to, whether or not a camping spot was available with the right trees. it'll take about 10-20 tries before you get really good at getting it 'centered'... (you dont want it CENTERED.. you want the corners to point DIRECTLY at the supporting tree when its laying on the ground, before you put it up. even if one strap ends up at 2ft length, and another is 15ft in length.. )so you'll need a back-up tent in those cases you end up not being able to put it up.'stockier' people will roll to the middle. you can fix that by putting an air mattress in; which will spread out your weight evenly across the bottom of the tent. also prevents that sag 'dip' from all your weight being in one spot. a "full" size (75"x55") air mattress barely fits, but is tight against the mesh on the top corners.. the "car" size air mattresses fit better.. (the ones wider on bottom...)i've heard that the 2-person tentsile tents do much better with weight distribution.. especially with couples wanting to sleep cuddled. won't need the air mattress.the kids have used this way more than the adults; it's helped motivate the kids to camp. that's not to say that i haven't slept many nights comfortably in it myself, though.someone mentioned that there are other options for $129. i wish tentsile would come down a little on their price; but i'm not putting my children 8+ feet in the air in a $129 knock-off..

Great product if you’re into that kinda money but no offense the same product was found for $129.00
