Q: Can this be moved from car to car?

Yes. Easiest if you buy an extra base though. You wouldn’t have to plug the usb lead in the back each time as you can put the usb lead in to the base and the road angel has electrical touch contacts on the bottom that get the power from the base. USB is standard amazon fitting.

Q: Why do i need this when mapping apps such as google maps or waze have camera alerts built into the app, and these apps are free

I found Waze and TomTom(amigo) between them have the same if not better results for free. The road angel database is not up to date. There are often new camera zones put up and I've seen it take weeks if not months before road angel update the database. The road angel also bleeps for gatso cameras that have long been removed. Sometimes these cameras have been gone for years. I really struggle to see the use for mine. I stupidly paid for their 3 or 5 year subscription bundle as it was on special offer a long time ago, thinking I would really get good use of of the machine. I really struggle to see it doing anything over my Waze app on my phone's satnav. Plus road angel subscription charges are just plain daft. They want like 100 quid a year or something similar. It's just not worth it when Waze does it for free and road angels own database is often out of date so it really makes it even more pointless. And yes the machine self updates to the latest database via an inbuilt simcard , but what's the point when their database is just plain out of date...save you money. Don't bother

Q: Is this ok for jersey, channel islands

I'm not sure, didn't know they had speed camera's in the Channel Islands or if it is under English law I would google Road Angel go on to there on line sight & ask them. If the do, I have the Pure V2 which is the latest one it works brilliantly very pleased best one they have produced

Q: Does it detect mobile cameras and hand held ones on side of road,

Yes. The Mobile Camera data comes in two layers. The first is the 'likely' Camera Van sites which means that the site information has either been notified to us via a customer or that it has been made public information via the Police or Safety Camera Partnership websites. The second layer alert is for 'Live Safety Camera Van'. This means that a customer has received an alert to a likely location and there is mobile enforcement taking place at the time. On a Pure, one of the top two buttons can be pressed to set the location as 'Live', which informs other users in the local area that speed enforcement is taking place. This 'Live' flag stays on the system for 2 hours before dropping off. Of course, if someone else has set the location as 'Live', then you as a customer, would be alerted to the fact that there is a 'Live' Mobile Safety Camera Van present as you approach the location. The Pure deals with hand held and mobile camera vans in the same way.
