Glad I Chose This Camera
I was looking for a reliable, no subscription, easy to use and set up camera. The Tapo C121 was an excellent choice for my needs. The app and set up was easy and intuitive.I purchased the gently used models at a discount, and only 1 of the 3 cameras actually appeared used. This 1 used camera gave me a harder time setting up, including not being able to connect to the camera’s WiFi and rejecting the setup process. But perseverance won and the camera connected. The power cord is long, which is convenient. The detection mode is a nifty feature. The spotlight at the brightest setting does allow for nighttime color.Connecting to see live footage is faster and easier than with Arlo, eSmartCam, and MOBI.I did do research, including reading the review in Consumer Reports.Everyone has their own needs; this Tapo was exactly what I wanted.

Great Camera With Lots of Features at a Great Price
Great basic camera at a great price. Very easy set up. Very good video. Comes with extras like person, vehicle and pet detection at no extra cost. Have had it for over six months with no issues. The subscription plan is nice but not necessary. The main difference is the subscription plan lets you delete videos while the SD card keeps them all and deletes/overwrites old ones when full. I switched to SD and event recording over a month ago to a 256g card and no videos have been deleted yet. You can record 24 hours a day or just do event recordings which are usually 15-60 seconds with the Cloud or 1-2 minutes on the SD card. The Cloud recording is nice but not worth $42 a year for my needs. Really easy to download videos to your phone, table or PC. A couple neighbors have purchased after seeing mine and everyone is satisfied.

Excellent versatile camera with lots of features
This is a great versatile camera. I have a 4 year old 32 Channel NVR that uses the onvif Protocol and 1080P resolution. Several of my original cameras died of old age and that I was using indoor cameras outside. I have tried many replacements but couldn't find a compatible replacement. I saw this model on sale and decided to try it.The setup was very easy through the TAPO app and I was able to use the Advanced setup to create a camera account and password. I was also able to change the resolution to 1080P. My NVR was able to detect the camera and the required port (2020). It connected with no issue. The picture is great even in low light conditions. There are multiple mounting options and the hardware is included. I can access the camera through both the app and my NVR. The motion detector works great even at 35-40 feet. The zoom feature works great through the app. Security is good but degraded slightly because of the local account created for my NVR. The only negative I have found is that the camera's time is off by 20 minutes. I like it so wel;l, that I have purchased a second one.

Almost Perfect
The quality of the video is excellent, as is the Tapo software on Android. Installation is very easy, though power cords could be longer. The only complaint is you need a VERY small Torx bit to tighten the nuts to lock the position of the camera, they are a bit loose from the factory. The problem is the hardware is so small that it's hard to get it right enough to hold the camera still and not strip the screw or nuts. I bought 4 of these, plus the Tapo doorbell and am happy with all. Works great with the Deco WiFi too.

This camera is great!
I have previously owned other cameras, where I have it inside and point out my front window. However, this is the absolute best I have had so far!Other models require a subscription - this one doesn't! (You can purchase an SD card that will record everything - and it holds a lot, too!) It takes a little bit to navigate the app, but I have it set up to record everything on a loop, and then identify (over the course of the whole recording) when a person passes by the field. I bought a 250GB card, and so far it has recorded 3 weeks of video. I previously had a camera that would upload to my google drive, and that only recorded up to 1 week. This video is also higher quality, and much cleaner than the old camera.Others cannot identify anything across a window - this one does! Granted this is much newer and technology has gotten TONS better over time. It will "tag" every person in the field, and then provide markers in my recording indicating when a person crossed the field. This is far more data-rich than my other cameras (across a window). As far as "night vision" - I have found that if you set it on night vision, this will not work across a window. It will only reflect a light on the window and back to the camera. However, the low light sensitivity is excellent on this camera, as it will take the low level of light on the street and boost the video signal so that it can actually see ok at night on its own. Pretty good! It isn't as clean as my ring camera's IR night vision, but it is still good. And definitely worth the sacrifice of not having to pay for a subscription. The one thing I would appreciate for the camera are some accessories to help extend the stand (make it taller) and make it more stable, as I currently have it balanced right at my window. But it has been doing the job, pretty well, as is.Highly recommend!

It’s great buy it, much better than Wyze Cams.
Love this little camera. Had been using Wyze cams for many years, all the versions. This is just better! It’s better than the Wyze V4. Tapo has a much better user interface, quality is just as good if not better. The AI comes free with it and works so much better at detecting objects and motion. The setup and use were easy, works well with Alexa. The design is very nice and it’s very compact. WiFi seems to be excellent and comes up much faster than the Wyze cams. The Tapo Apple iOS widgets are so much better than Wyze.
