The cable has a strong back sheath and protection to limit bending at the ends. Little plastic removable sleeves hug the metal containing the display and, at the charger end. If like me you like to see a glossy finish, you will peel them off with your finger nail to observe the premium looking shine, although the cable is useable without doing so.The display is readable enough, although according to my phone, the amps during charging were circa 100ma adrift. Far from the end of the world.I purchased a USB-A to USB-C adapter to accompany the USB-C to micro USB ones I already owned, with the aim of being able to facilitate a variety of devices and chargers via one cable if desired. This worked well for me on holiday, although I found whilst using the USB-A adapter the readings on the display became less reliable for some reason, although the devices still fast charged at a good rate. I also noticed when using the USB-A adapter lodged in a charger with the cable, it seemed to power the display even without a device plugged in, which didn't occur during USB-C to USB-C charging.I like the cable and the ability to get some readings from the display. The jury is still out of course on the longevity. Fingers crossed it can match its looks with dependability.

After one month, broken down…

I bought a new wall socket with integrated USB-C and USB-A outlets and wanted to see if it was actually capable of putting out 30W.This cable shows that it can on my Surface Go 2, and that multiple other chargers I've got dotted around the place aren't capable of putting out what they're alleged to do.Seems relatively robust though time will tell, and it's quite a thick/chunky USB-C connector, so you may have issues with the opening on your mobile phone case.

Very useful cable. And the Voltage, Current and Watts are easy to see, and very bright. I already own several USB Test Meters, but this is quick and easy. At such a low price its a bargain

Turned out to be very useful in troubleshooting an issue with my USB-PD setup (laptop turned out not to like the old cable, but only sometimes, with this one I could see the changes in power consumption that caused this).Works well as a USB-PD cable, happily up to ~95W (20V, might hit 100W, I suspect my laptop or charger aren't going that high as other cables have the same). According to the specs it only works as USB 2.0 for data, although I haven't really tried it for that. The cable is pretty thick and the plugs make a very secure (quite tight) fit, I'm not sure how much rough handling the one with the display will handle, but it seems quite robust and has managed a few weeks usage (although not using this as my day to day cable, preferring a longer one). I did also end up getting a separate USB-C power tester to test against, which has the advantage of showing power direction and all readings simultaneously (this one cycles through current, voltage and power, and doesn't show direction), but this does the job and is a bit more convenient, I'm happy leaving this cable plugged in, while you might not want to leave a sepearate power tester sticking out of one of the USB ports which seems a bit vulnerable.

Used for 3 months good performance but snapped today poor quality.
