I'm not sure what you are asking by "a balanced tone option" If you read the specs on the Dumbal Drive pedal you see that it provides an overdrive based on the D-style amplifier. Just think of it as an Overdrive pedal with a lot of nice features that you can adjust to suit your taste. It's a lot fun to tweak the pedal and hear what comes out. I generally switch it and forget about it.
