50mm 1.4 AFS lens for Nikon D5300
Arrived on time and well packaged. Absolutely delighted with this used lens and the price represents a huge saving on new. The lens feels, works and looks like new. On this basis I have no hesitation in recommending this business for anyone wishing to buy a used camera lens.

There are plenty product reviews on the internet regarding this lens by people who know more than me, but what I do know is I love it.Bought this on moving up to a full frame DSLR and it is the smallest, lightest and fastest lens I own. I wanted to use my camera more and previously carrying a DSLR body with a 24-70 or 70-200mm lens just on the off chance of taking a photography just did not work. Now I happily carry camera and this lens without a problem.Additionally, as it is not a zoom, it makes me think about composition and move my feet. And its not just back and forth but trying a lower or higher angle and moving around the subject. This lens is in effect teaching me to see and consider the shot.I like its size, weight, build, lowlight capability and depth of field that it allows and also it is discreet and does not send people running for cover as the lenses I mentioned earlier can do.I have found close focus distance is not as good as I would like but if I didn't have the lens I would not have had the camera with me and even been able to take the picture.I would recommend a 50mm lens to everyone with a full frame DSLR and either the 50mm or 35mm to everyone with a crop sensor camera. They do make you consider the shot and move to view more than one angle rather than simply zooming in and out.Buying this from Amazon was a dream with a good price and delivery very swift.

Quality lens for FX camera!
I've had this lens now for over a year and a half so this review is based on significant everyday use.The lens is excellent in every way. It's not a light lens but that is what a lens like this should feel like. The overall construction is really good quality with both metal and plastic. It is weather sealed so can be used in light rain.It comes with a lens hood and bag to store when not in use.The quality of the pictures when used with a D800 has been unbelievable. I am an old school photographer and still have my FM2 and the original Nikkors made of steel and proper glass. Though not comparable to these, this lens is worth every penny and it does cost a lot of pennies! The colours and contrast are spot on and any minor aberrations can be corrected quite easily in Lightroom.I use this all the time and it focuses quickly and quietly without any problems. Really tough construction and has taken a few knocks but still looks new. Use a good quality 77mm UV filter though to protect from dust and scrapes.Pictures viewed on a large 40" HDTV are flawless. You cannot appreciate the quality and depth until you see pictures at this size. The combination is the lens and the D800 is fantastic.Really pleased after a year and a half of use.

Nikon 1.4 50mm
I am not a professional photographer, just an average Joe, who likes taking photographs .I have a couple of other Nikon zoom lens's and thought I would take the plunge and get a prime lens. Having had it for a few days now I can say that I am very impressed, especially it's low light capability . The detail it captures is pretty impressive to .Currently it's attached to my soon to be replaced d60 with a d7000 nikon , so I am expecting greater things from the new camera. Build quality seems fine. If your not sure of the lens's magnification with it being a 50mm, then basically it takes what the eye sees without size reduction or magnification. The nikon d7000 has a built in lens motor as does this lens so I think I could of gone for the non g type and saved a few pounds, but I guess the d60 can act as a backup. Very happy with lens:-)

Good lens, not quite the wow I expected though.
I find I don't use this lens as much as I would have liked, the AF is sluggish and miss many shots that way. Since this FX lens would equate in the DX format to roughly 35mm field of view equivalence, the suited application for it that I can think of is street photography, and shooting everyday scenes. Its possibly also decent for shooting people waist and up / full length, but not really a great portrait lens, in the fx format you need to go for a 85mm or greater prime... What puts me off though is that for street photography is the AF speed is too sluggish, so although I find I wanna use this lens more, it stays in the bag a lot.On the plus side it produces beautiful bokeh, and is a very light sensitive lens, its great for those last moments of twilight. I still feel money better spent would be on the AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G Lens as an all round lens, but with the added bonus of being a portrait lens if you on the FX format... for a DX body this might be a great purchase.

Excellent lens.
A fantastic lens. I think of using a 50mm lens as a bit old school. It makes you rethink things a little after being so used to using a zoom. It slows you down forcing you to think a little more about your composition, and you will curse yourself sometimes for not having a zoom with you. Technically the lens seems fabulous, bright and sharp and obviously fast as you would expect. My only complaint really is the focusing distance. All too often I just can get in as close as I would like.F1.4 does give you a few more create options that zooms don't give you. But to me its a training add. It helps me break some bad habits. It helps prevent me getting into a rut, and forces me to look at my surroundings in a different way and take more creative shots.

Wedding Photography at F1.4
Optics are OK, build quality is on the poor side, AF is good. This lens is not a patch on my old 50mm F1.2 but sadly is is not AF. If you have the 24 - 70mm Nikon F2.8 i would not bother with this lens
