Very applicable for children
I’ve been a school counselor for over 20 years and I’m recently learning about acceptance and commitment therapy and just bought this workbook and I’m loving it! I’ve been trying to figure out how to translate the concepts of ACT into something that children would understand and this workbook does exactly that!

Another gem from Tamar Black
A fabulous companion to Dr. Black's wonderful clinician guide ACT for Treating Children. This workbook for children contains dozens of charming activities, and informative text, that convey the ideas and experiences found in acceptance and commitment therapy. A great therapeutic tool. And, any of these activities would be enjoyable and valuable for parents and children to do together.

A useful tool for any child!
As an anxiety and OCD child therapist I am always looking for evidenced-based children’s workbooks that are engaging, entertaining and easy to use. This book does not disappoint! I found the language to be engaging and simplistic for kids to digest. The activities were fun and honed in on the skills of accepting thoughts and feelings, while doing things that are important to you.I bought this book as a therapist, but as a mom to a 12 year old with anxiety and OCD I’ll be using this at home as well. I know my daughter will be able to do these activities independently and it will walk her through building ACT skills without heavy or boring jargon.I love the universal nature of this workbook. I can see younger kids, ages 4-6 using this with the help of a parent. For older kids, this is a perfect independent skill building tool. This book is about all emotions, so it is perfect for any child learning to manage big feelings.I’ll definitely be recommending this to the parents I work with, and will be using it with my own kids as well.

ACT made accessible for children
I love this book. It gives practical and accessible tools that can be used to help children learn the critical skills ACT has to offer. The pacing and structure sets the book apart from other books that offer mindfulness tools. There is rhythm & reason behind each part of the book. What is more, reviewing the book helped me to better understanding concepts of ACT myself. I highly recommend this book and I can see how each child having their own copy could help them have something they can reflect back on for years to come that will remind them of these important skills.

Great workbook!
The ACT Workbook for Kids is packed with 42 activities to teach kids how to identify and deal with their big emotions! It’s written in a way that would allow kids to read it on their own, and also encourages them to ask for adult support during craft activities. As Dr. Black says in the beginning, it’s great in the home or in a therapy session.
