A complex topic made simple
Several years ago, just like the author, I completed a master’s degree in business in the UK. This topic of mergers and acquisitions was on the curriculum and I found it rather challenging. This book is fairly easy to comprehend. There is a wealth of resources on offer to help readers understand the concept. There is enough to guide you through the entire process of a merger or acquisition. My only concern regarding this book is the way it is presented. There are too many one and two-line paragraphs and this makes the material a bit more difficult to read

Informative albeit with many errors.
Umran clearly shows throughout the book his knowledge of the M&A world and the deal process. It is written in very short chapters consisting of two to four pages each. The short chapters enable the reader to easily breeze through the pages and it can easily be read in a couple of days. However, at times, I feel the author did not proof read the book before publishing it. Sometimes ideas brought up do not flow properly. He will mention "three points" he will discuss relating to a topic, but only mention one or two. Furthermore, there is at least one grammar mistake and/or typo per chapter. Overall, the book is a decent read with basic information on the deal process of a M&A transaction, but the grammar, typos, and lack of thought make it sometimes very frustrating.

Needs work
The book is fine but it has an unacceptable amount of spelling mistakes and sentences which hardly make sense or contradict themselves.

Great Concept, Difficult Delivery
I like the objective of the book. I think this was a fair attempt at delivering the title. However, as a practitioner of this particular industry, I must say the book is written in a very opinion based format and can be difficult to follow. The writer attempts to show too many sides of a deal as opposed to simply explaining the matrix of M&A.Don't take this review wrong, if you have no M&A experience, there is knowledge to be gleaned here. This is a decent introduction to M&A, but could use better formatting and organization.
