How well do they stay up and how thick are they?

They stay up well and are on the thin side or I guess you could call them lightweight.

They don't really specify a 'size', but seem to be standard sizing. I.e. These are for adult women, I'm guessing with a size range from 5 to 10. Not sure if this helps. I have large feet (9.5) and they fit fine.

Are these socks extremely tight at the top because I have bigger calves?

At their widest point, my calves are 14.5" and these fit fine.
