Sachets of Dashi
Ideal for a quick stock for japanese dishes. May need to use more than one if you want more flavour but once you add other ingredients it's a good base.

useful base for miso soup
This is a kelp powder and can be a base for a miso soup. In the past I did simmer a piece of kombu as a miso soup base, but his is quicker and more convenient. There are a couple of E numbers included in this. The instructions are to dissolve it in 1-1.2 liters of simmering water. This works for a couple, but, if, like me, you live on your own, you don't want that amount of liquid. For a pint or 500ml, put the powder in a small bowl, use one and a half teaspoons and cover the rest with cling film and use that the next time.If you are interested, a quick miso soup is as follows: simmer a pint of water and dissolve the powder; add a handful of chopped kale with the thick stems removed; add a quarter of a block of firm tofu diced, add chopped up green beans and a small, or half a big carrot grated; simmer for 5 minutes. Take the saucepan off the heat, and add a pinch of wakame. Put 2 level teaspoons of red miso and one teaspoon of white miso into a small sieve. Put the sieve into the liquid and press the miso through the sieve, as if you drop it straight in, its stays in a lump. If you like you can chop up a spring onion or add a dash of soy sauce, although I don't do this.

Easy to use and versatile
So easy to use, I use in soups and Japanese pancakes, but versatile enough to have many other uses. Granules dissolve easily and it’s very tasty. Seems like good quality.

First timer.
I chose this as it was vegan and the reviews/star rating seemed good.I don't know what it is supposed to be like but I found it light, pleasant, mild flavor, and a good starting point for broths & soups.
