Supermarket pod selection dwindling/discontinuing? Excellent alternative.for an "old" 2 pod/MUG senso machine
I bought these pods as I noticed the range of options of the official pods dwindling in our local supermarket. I did not wish to own a machine I couldn't use or one that would cost me the earth for replacements. I cheated a little when I used these pods the first time, I used the coffee grounds from a competitors pods to fill these as I wasn't sure how much you needed or how much to pack in. As other reviewers have said, you will need the "old" style double pod machine as these filters will not fit in the shallower 1 pod trays. If you can use the MUG sized pods in your machine this filter should work for you. The coffee tasted great however I guess it depends on the coffee grounds you use. I'm really happy with this as it offers more variety and means I will be prepared and still be able to enjoy using our machine even when the supermarkets discontinue the range and stop stocking pods all together...

Permanent Coffee Pod .... Great Product
Can't get hold of Senseo podsThis solves all my problems , I don't drink gallons of coffee and the Senseo machine was ideal for a single cup of good coffee occasionallyNow this machine seems to be " old hat " the pods are harder to find at the right price , I don't really want 50 pods at a time off the internet. This permanent pad filter is easy to use , flip the lid , 2+ heaped teaspoons of favourite coffee , clip shut and use in the double pod holder as usual . Fits my 7810 model perfectly ( fits models 7800 => 7874 )Doesn't get quite as much of the crema effect of the pods but have only been using for a day or two , I'm sure change to finer grind or 3 spoons coffee would help .Great buy at under £3 for 2

Wonderful, powerful coffee again....
Great little gadget for your Senseo, allows you to use your favourite blend (in my case Lavazza coffee) for a strong, rich single cup of coffee. Cleaning is a bit fiddly... worth tapping the used grounds into a bin, then rinsing under the tap. Please note that although this provides a single cup, it has to be used in conjunction with the deeper of the two pod holders. But this will save you money on expensive coffee pads.

Terrible product
The strength of the plastic is so weak it opened during first use and has blocked up my pad holder and machine. Now I can’t use my coffee machine at all. Terrible product do not buy.

Great way to keep costs down on your Senseo
I heard about these Coffee Duck / Re-usable pods when I bought my Philips Senseo recently. I have to say that I have been very impressed so far. You get 2 re-usable pods that you simply fill up with your own sourced ground coffee and then put into your Senseo with the 2 cup 'caddy'. Your coffee comes out tasting great with a foam layer just like the orginal pods. So the actual usage of this is really easy and over time it will save you a fortune. As I mentioned, you get 2 re-usable pods but so far I've only had to use 1. Overall, I would happily recommend these re-usable pods and indeed a Philips Senseo to anyone.

Excellent idea but...
The Melitta padfilter seems like an excellent idea. I started drinking decaf coffee recently and found that there is a very limited choice of decaf coffee pads, so I tried this permanent padfilter with ground coffee as an alternative. Unfortunately the pads don't seem to work with my Senseo HD7823 machine. I used the pad with the double pod holder as instructed but the lid wouldn't close. I forced it to close but then I almost broke the machine trying to open it. Sadly this product landed in the drawer.

best use
After a bit of practice - I found that to increase strength of coffee and get the creamy foam on top (same as when using bags) you need to fill the padfilter to capacity so that it almost doesn't clip shut. Don't worry about it opening when in use cos when the senseo lid is closed - this presses down on the padfilter and seals it. Coffee was much stronger - more like the real thing. Also - I always heat milk slightly before adding to coffee and always use fine ground espresso coffee. Much better than the coffee bags as although they are convenient, the coffee they produce is weak and bland. They also cost too much. I don't find the cleaning the padfilter too much trouble - its worth it.

Worth the money
I wasn't too sure about these when I purchased them, and initially found them a little fiddly to use. I must point out I am registered blind. However once I had worked out a system which involves transferring my ground coffee to a flat sealable container and working over that, so excess grounds would be caught, I find they are really good. I have four of these at the moment, so make a batch up and keep them in a container till ready for use.Four isn't enough so I will probably get another four shortly, s I can make mmore up at once. I was a little concerned that the hinges might snap easily, but I've used them since the 6th of march, (now april29th) and they seem fine. They do save money on the Senseo Pods, and can use much stronger coffee blends which I prefer. One word of warning, I did let some grounds escape once and they blocked the Coffee machine, which sounded as if it was going to explode. I had to clear out the coffee filter holder which was a bit of a faff, but all ok again now.So yes I would certainly recommend them. My four rather than five stars is because I feel the instructions with them could have been clearer.
