Gas pipe fittings inadequate
Firstly, I must stress I am not a 'Gas Safe' engineer, however I do know enough about gas fittings to know what is safe and what isn't safe.The gas hose does not have any British Standard marking on it.The jubilee type clips are totally inadequate for a gas pipe line and is was impossible to get gas tight joints with these components.The consequences of a leaking gas joint can be catastrophic.I believe this item should not be used with the hose and clips that came with the unit.I bought new proper propane hose and clips to suit.I was now able to create gas tight connections.The unit itself is basic but I have to say it heats aluminium in the crucible in a very short time. Around five minutes.I still recommend not using the hose and clips supplied and that you buy new propane hose (usually orange) and suitable clips from somewhere like Screwfix or your local gas stockist.
