Great, lots of fun! I wish it came with a wee carrying/storage case because it gets quite dirty as you can imagine and it’d be nice to have something like that to store it in.

Strong magnet especially for the price. Gloves are standard quality, rope looks weak but is surprisingly strong. If you buy it make sure to use the locking glue properly otherwise you could lose the magnet.

Magnets have certainly got stronger since I was a boy, I couldn't believe how strong this magnet is. First I got it stuck on a canal lock gate and could only get it off by sliding it upwards. Then it stuck on a lock ladder with two of us pulling without success, it took 2 days to get it off by pulling it sideways, but then it does pull a 160kg-353lbs. So don't use off the side of a steel boat or next to sheet piles. I've pulled up many rusty mooring pins from the canal and the strong 20m rope comes in handy. I am happy with this, only slight negative is the shackle sometimes twists and the magnet doesn't always sit horizontal, just reset it before you throw it back in. Glad I bought it, but if you've got a metal plate in your skull, keep it well away.

The kids loved magnet fishing with this item that's why I've given it 3 stars.Bad point'sThe strength and lift capability of the magnet isn't strong at all.Can't see this dragging much out bigger than a shoe box.The gloves are a waste of time as they are not waterproof.

After getting the magnet out of the box and trying it on various things around the house I must admit I was pretty disappointed , it didn’t seem that strong, more like a 3kg pull rather than a 300kg one. I took it into the garage and my whole opinion changed. I attached it to a steel girder and it was so difficult to remove. Intrigued, I decided to test its true pulling power.Firstly I tried it on a sanding station weighing around 20lb, no problem. Then a workmate XL around 40lb still no problem.Back to the girder, I set up a little rig using a tow rope and one of my own “snap karabiner “. It wouldn’t take my weight ( I weigh 16.5-17st) but it very nearly did. My 14yr old son was swinging around on it no problem. I left the garage pretty impressed.There are some negatives though!I purchased the kit for a little extra.The karabiner supplied in the kit is very cheap and of poor quality, as is the rope and the gloves. If I was to purchase it again I would probably just buy the magnet & get a better quality rope and Karabiner from somewhere else for a couple of quid more. I would also buy a grappling hook..Overall though it’s a great starter magnet for my son to start his new hobby.

Weak small magnet i can pull off a flat metal surface with 1 hand so the look and quality is weak for a fishing magnet functionality and will only pick up light stuff and the ring came undone in the water so it's gone forever thankfully
