Not a bad mincer - watch for rust!
This little hand-crank mincer isn’t bad for the money. The action is smooth enough, even though it is clearly a very rough sand cast item. The blade is a little unrefined, but it does the job, and the handle is retained well on the flat-sided end of the feed screw. It comes with 3 different sized grinding plates, which makes it versatile, and it goes together well. The only real issue that I have is it’s a little bit of a pain to clean due to the tight apertures, but this is a small unit so to be expected. The cutting blade and dies are iron though, so any water left on them will cause them to rust. Just make sure you thoroughly dry them after washing and apply some vegetable oil before storing away.Other than that, it does the job ok!

Brilliant!
I bought this for my husband who loves to cook, and he is very impressed by it. He has used it to make mince out of scraps of both cooked and raw meat, such as; pork, beef, chicken, and turkey so far, and it minced them with ease. It's also easy to clean and doesn't damage our wooden countertops in our kitchen when fixed in place for use, which is wonderful. I think it's very good quality for the price. We definitely recommend it.

Used product.
Received in a dirty box that looked like it had already been returned from a previous customer. The blade on the mincer was dirty and rusty and really not fit for sale. So I have returned.

It's not THAT bad a product really, but...
When it arrives, the louvres (four different sizes) are covered in shipping oil. (Cue one lot of completely ruined meat). When you clean that off, they are made of cast iron and immediately start to rust. The same is true of the mincing blade. The auger and channel are rough-cast and it doesn't really move meat down the channel that well - meat escapes past the sides. Were it smoother and better fitted to the channel it would be much better. Assembly is a little fiddly and you have to store all the iron parts in food grade oil which won't go rancid to prevent it rusting.

Effective
Just like my mother used to have and does exactly what I expected; mince cooked meat from the leftover Sunday roast. The instructions could've been clearer, it took me ages to work out which way the cutter blade had to be positioned.I don't think it's particularly effective on raw meat, it's ok but not brilliant, but works fine on cooked. No real issues with rusting & I haven't used oil on it - yet!Be aware, in order to be able to clamp this to a surface you must either use it on a table top or open a base cupboard door as most kitchen worktops won't have enough overhang to clamp the mincer to.If you just want something to mince meat occasionally and don't want to invest a lot of money on something that takes up a lot of space, then this is the gadget for you.
