My son has taken to making his own lures so we started with this one...it makes 3 single lures and is super durable. He does "tape" it closed while the plastisol is drying but don't think its necessary to.

I have been pouring my own plastic baits for several years now and have several types of molds. I already had a five inch senko mold, but I use them a lot so I got this to multiply my output. There is very little difference between the two. They are both solidly made and have similar structure features. It seems a little higher in price, but I haven't bought a new one in several years, so it could be very competitive. Regardless, I look at it like this...senkos average around a $1 each when you buy a bag off the shelf at any sporting goods store. It seems cheaper because buying the molds, plastic, scents, colors, etc., to make your own at home costs more at the beginning. But here's the thing, because these molds last a reallly long time, every time you pour a batch, your price per senko keeps going down. My old molds have already paid for themselves, and this one will too.

This mold is made of aluminum and is a quality solid mold. Everything fits together super tight. This is an injection mold but I had been watching videos of guys hand pouring with injection molds and you can make it work since there are only 3 senkos in this mold. If you don't get the temp right, sometimes the top one won't come out and you need to remelt. Senkos are the perfect bait for recycling old plastics because they are a very simple design and the straight mold cavity allows for easier flow and fill of of less than ideal goopy remelted plastisol. I melted a cup full of assorted ancient plastics worms, torn plastic grubs, etc and you can see the pics of how these senkos turned out. They look great and will be awesome for bass and walleye wacky rigged this summer. Senkos are one of the most versatile and effective plastic baits of all and can be fished many ways, so being able to recycle all my old plastic into senkos is a great deal that will save me money.

To be fair up front, I have used best_nj bait molds before and was pleased with their performance. However, I never got the aluminum ones. I just used the engineered stone.So I splurged on this and I am very happy with it. The finish is great and the mold detail is sharp. The two halves sit together smoothly and I have noticed no imperfections in that regard.I have no idea how many baits you could mold in this before it wears out. I am guessing you would wear out before the mold does. Pass it on to the kids and let it wear them out.If you like making your own baits or just want to try doing it, you can't go wrong with best_nj. Well worth the price.
