A decent product
This hose reel screws directly to the wall with three screws. Although the instructions show a template being used, there wasn't one - so aligning the holes with sufficient accuracy to get all three screws fitting neatly was a bit fiddly. And curiously, half the instructions are inside the box lid whilst the other half are on a piece of paper, so you don't know which part to tackle first.Since I last fitted one of these hose reels they've added a plastic elbow to deal with the sharpest bend where the hose goes into the drum. That's a useful improvement. To start with the reel seemed a bit rickety, but now that it's fitted and filled with hose, it's fine. The hose has three yellow ridges running along its length, presumably for reinforcement. Perhaps as a result of this, it seems more robust than some other hoses. The hose reel comes with a bag of hose fittings including a nozzle, so you don't need to buy anything else to get watering. It also comes with a wall-mounted hose guide; however this sits closer to the wall than the back of the reel does, so I can't see it getting the hose back on the reel very evenly.Overall I recommend this product as being fair quality for a fair price.

Works fine - Just ignore the instructions...
Mine is on the wall and works fine, no leaks at all. I was put off by all the negative reviews about it leaking but I figured give it a shot after reading one review about the instructions being wrong, causing all the trouble. It comes with instructions printed on the box and inside separately. Have a look through them to see what should go where, get the basic idea and then ignore them and use your common sense and logic to install this. You get connections for the ends of the hoses, and the adjustable nozzle for changing your spray pattern. One of the connections if a one way valve, which I didn't see the point of, but installed it on the supply connection at the back of the reel (the instructions don't tell you where it should go...).The instructions tell you to unscrew the internal connection attachment (the white bit) in the center of the reel; that the mains supply connects to at the rear, and the main hose connects to at the front. DO NOT DO THIS! I believe this is what's causing everyone to have leaks, as another reviewer said, it 'breaks a seal' and then makes it useless. The center front of the reel (the bit with the logo on it) lifts off for access to the output connection where the main hose connects, there is no need to unscrew anything, just use the access panel at the front. The one and only thing I had a little trouble with was the metal coil thing which (for reasons I'm yet to learn) is inserted into the hose pipe which connects to the output connection in the center-front of the reel. Don't hook this around the end of the hose as I originally did, it needs to insert in to the connection and hooks inside the connection. Someday I'll discover it's purpose, I really don't see what difference it makes to anything. The hose guide included is a bit cheap and nasty, I almost didn't use it. You have to construct it yourself, but it's straight forward. I improved it by countersinking the screw holes that attach it to the wall, so the screws would be flush with the surface of the guide, rather than protruding out - not aesthetically pleasing. This is something that should have been done as part of the original mould really.Anyway, I've used it multiple times and all is well, the hose can kink up sometimes and as it's my first hose can't say if this it's 'kinkier' than other hoses, at the end of the day it's hardly the end of the universe, just un-kink it.

LOVE this - no more kinking hoses
I bought a 30m hose just with a cradle trying to save money but it was a total waste - the hose constantly kinked and stopped working all the time, plus is was almost impossible to coil it neatly onto the cradle, just kept twisting. I finally gave in and bought this wall mounted wind up hose reel and and absolutely love it, it has made my time in the garden so much easier - no more kinks, just pull it out to use then wind the handle to retract it back onto the reel.It was fairly easy to assemble and fit but I did go onto the Hozelock website and watch their how to video which really helped. To hang the reel you will need to drill 3 holes, rawl plugs and screws are included. I think I used a 7mm masonry bit to drill the holes.I used a big sheet of card (you could use newspaper taped together) to make myself a template. I just lay the reel on it and marked the 3 holes, then punched out those hole marks and held it up on my garden wall and marked the holes with a felt tip. I still need to fit the little hose guide to stop it rubbing on the corner, just trying to decide where i would benefit from it most. This reel looks great and feel sturdy. I like Hozelock and trust their quality.

Garden hose
Excellent product, easy to mount/ fit and works well. Tip to others: Hose is a bit short to reach round into the driveway to wash the car but is perfect length for back garden. Measure length required before purchase. There is room left on the reel for me to add an extra length of hose so not a wasted purchase for me.
