Salter-Nuffield A level Biology textbooks are the best in my opinion. Science is not an academic but a practical subject. The style of writing 'talks' to you, involves you. The subject matter is highly motivating because it is all related to a context that draws you in. Each topic has its own context. Each topic is rich with inter-related sub-topics that enrich your learning. It is 'student-centred' rather than 'teacher-centred', so the 'Why are we learning this?' question is never 'Because it's on the syllabus!' but rather it's obvious from the context. That all said, it does satisfy the standardised A' level curricula demands for content, a testament to the textbook's writers who are in my opinion wonderful!

itis hard going, but useful and runs perfectly alongside my online biology alevel. it supplements the online information and is nice to read rather reading from a computer or tablet screen all the time.

Explains some concepts very poorly. Layout is very messy and unorganised. But follows the specification.
