Good product; lock not a reason to not buy
This is a good product - solid plastic; not flimsy. It was bigger than I expected... although not sure why as rats are quite big. I bought mine to hold bait for a mice infestation. I wanted to post about the lock - I took a risk on this product given the comments about it, primarily because I am a practical person and logic told me no one would sell a product absolutely everyone couldn't get into.I did open it fairly quickly but it's true that it takes a bit of working out. The main reason is that the lock isn't a classic design - you don't twist, wait for a clunk and open. Rather it is a like a claw that grips a bar, and counter intuitively you should open when you feel the greatest push against the key, because it is at this point when the claw has been prised open to the fullest extent. I found it easiest to open when on its side, with the lock uppermost and you twisting the key to one side. The lock is really not a reason to not buy this product - it's very solid and cheaper than metal alternatives. I would go to them only if you have a particularly voracious rodent that has decided to chew it. I used in conjunction with Bayer rodent bait packets as they seemed to have the best results. I haven't checked if my lot have discovered the bait yet but that's not the fault of a container.

Does exactly what it’s supposed to.
Good value compared to other makes & does the exact same job.

Having baited the station the rats did seem to enjoy their poison so these rat stations do work but ...
I prefer the metal ones but this type was nowhere to be seen when I order two of these. My wife put the rat station out in the garen because I'm disabled and can't get out there this time of year. Having baited the station the rats did seem to enjoy their poison so these rat stations do work but they could do with a little bit more thought into there design?First dislike was the way the rat entrances are designed and I don't know why this type does not work well while the metal ones are able to work outside in the garden without letting the rain get inside the box for when we came to re-fill the bait box the thing was full of water. I know rats don't mind the wet but it seems like they don't like their poison getting wet.The second dislike in this design is how the box is locked and here just a little instruction with the traps would have been helpful but nothing came with it except a key and your guess is as good as mine into what position the key has to be turned to to be in the unlock mode and in the end we just had to turn the key a little bit at a time then try to force the box open to almost breaking point then when it would not open turn a bit more and so on to you hit the right combination. There is a arrow on the base of the key that I assume is supposed to line up with something on the box but I can't see anything on the box for it to line up with so perhaps this is why there is no instruction on how to unlock the boxes as they have dropped a clanger.Overall the box does do it's job and they are cheap so you have to keep that in mind.

Great Product - just follow this trick with the key....
Great product seems to be working!Important: To open box turn key until feel some resistance (then open box by hand). I thought my key was broken as I turned it and it kept turning as if it was slipping, it does not just click open as one would expect.

Ok but awkward to open
The twist action key means you can’t just open the lid, you need to hold down the bottom half while lifting the top with the key delicately balanced so the lock stays open.

Rat Bait station
I found this product to be excellent. Easy to use and very effective at dealing with the rodents visiting my mother in laws garden to take the food she puts out for the birds. The compartments which you put the bait in are accessible to the rodents but not garden birds so no risk of poisoning them at the same time. After placing the bait station a week later all the bait had been eaten (and I had filled it full). I repeated the process and a week later much less had gone. A week after that and none had been taken and no sign of any rats since.I suggest placing a brick on it to keep it in position as there would be a risk of the bait spilling out if it was tipped up.

Does it work?
The lock is poor. I struggled to get it open or to lock it after putting the bait in. Now I can't unlock it at all to see if the bait has been taken so I can't give a judgement on the bait.
