L. T. Piver A La Reine Des Fleurs by Lt Piver Eau De Cologne 14.25 oz

I've been auditioning perfumes ever since my favorite source (a French mail-order company) retired their old line and hired a new perfumer. Most have been overpriced and underwhelming. This is the first L.T. Piver scent I've tried and I quite like it. Fragrantica has this description: "Reine des Fleurs is the first fragrance from the house, designed by the first owner Michel Adam is 1774. Reine des Fleurs is a fresh eau de cologne, made of citruses, orange, lemon, lavender, thyme, bergamot, clove and rosemary notes.". I like that it's an old house and an old formula. If they've started using synthetic components over the years, my sensitive nose can't tell. It is light, fresh and a little sweet but more complex than most citrusy fragrances. Although the overt scent disappears within a few hours, there's a slight remainder of the non-volatile aromatics if I sniff closely where I've applied it and the mood lift it provides seems to last longer than the obvious scent. I splash it on with my hands after bathing, and poured some into a small spray bottle to make it easier to reapply later in the day.It is similar to 4711 (another favorite 18th-century cologne) in its freshness and short duration, but it is more feminine than 4711.This is a large bottle, and at this price it was a good value. If I use few other fragrances it may last me the season. When I unscrewed the cap I found a metal seal that perplexed me for a bit but I managed to remove it with a few pries of a bottle opener.Looking forward to trying other scents from this house. I have seen oblique mentions of spiritual connotations for Piver fragrances in online reviews but can't find any more information about possible symbolism or occult uses. Intriguing!

So the packaged finally arrived after it was delayed in transit. I was so excited to get this perfume. I rushed home only to open it and find that nearly all of the product had leaked out. The top was not screwed on properly. It was wrapped in paper not even bubble wrap. It wasn’t broken so that’s a good thing. I’m so upset. I don’t know if this is just a mishap but I’m so disappointed. I really wanted to try out this perfume, and now I can’t even enjoy it
