Vegetarian MREs
These are essentially MREs without meat or meat by products.About me: I have been buying emergency food forever and I eat the product and try it out as soon as I get it.I have experience with these, MREs, Camping Food, and "survival food"I would put Survival Food at the bottom of this list without questions. It's mostly overpriced carbs and I think the marketing is designed to take advantage of people trying to prepare for an emergency.MRE's and Camping Food are really good and this product is very similar except without meat.About this product:Almost identical to an MRE but (no heaters! and did I mention? No meat :)The peanut butter and jams are identical to those in MREs and are good.Don't make a mess! the feeble napkin isn't going to be enough but the utensils etc. are a nice touchPros:Very well packagedNo meat if your vegetarian but if you're starving, you shouldn't discriminateVery good value for your money....my first one I opened had 9 distinct itemsEnough calories for a day....so 10 = 10 daysCons:No meat (many MREs have meat and I want a lot of protein in an emergency)Entrees taste pretty good but prior to cooking, the consistency is disgusting....a paste essentiallyEntrees require a little water and cooking in a pot (in my opinion) to make them edibleEntrees are soups and stews....(canned versions might be just as good, cheaper and better)Final thoughts:I opened and had 1/2 of one for lunch right after they arrived. I had #5 the Lentil Stew. Before heating in a small pot, it was a nasty paste. After adding a little water and cooking, it was perfectly edible and pretty decent. I ate the Oatmeal cookie which is pictured too....it was dry but the taste was pretty good.I broke the Vegetable Crackers into my Lentil Stew as they were pretty bland but not horrible. They made the meal more substantial and filled me up (6 ft 2in 225)I would keep a couple of cases on hand. They cost less than MREs and have 2 entrees as opposed to one. They do not come with heaters so be aware....they can be eaten without cooking but I do not suggest that. These are good on the go and the packaging is amazing. If you're just building a stockpile at home, you may just want to accumulate canned goods, soups, etc as this might be cheaper. However, considering the cost I got was under $5 per pouch, you are not getting ripped off like much of the phony "survival" food out there which is lots of carbs, mac and chz and rice.I keep cases of MREs and will add a few of these b/c of the value. They are also good to keep in your vehicle just in case.

The Florida panhandlers are thankful, mostly.
I hand these to the "just hungry" panhandlers on street corners. A full day's calories for a reasonable price.

Very happy with it overall.
The bean stew variety is reliably good. Other food components can be seem as a bit corner-cutting, but the price and convenience are very convincing.

Fast shipping
The menus, even though they have different numbers they are all the same. They taste ok. Great if starving to death. No drinks. The oatmeal cookey has a slight chemical flavor. The short bread is good. For the money there ok. Maybe good to have if all hell breaks loose.

1700 Calories Per Pack
For the price for these rations, it is most certainly worth it however they advertise it in a way that is quite misleading. To explain they mention that it is 2200-2000 calories per pack however that is not true, I have taken the caloric value of all the food in one pack and it only amounts to around the 1700 calories on one day and around 1900 on all the others. Another thing is, there is not much variety at all, you'll find you will get the same meal more than once, more than twice even. and all of the same snacks. The flavor is great though, I love all the meals, they taste great, especially for the price. The only other thing I have to say though is that there is some crusty material that is always in the bag somewhere, it is quite gross but thankfully it mainly resides in the utensil/cleanup/seasonings bag. However with this packing there is never any salt with the pepper from what I've found. However the bag of salt is sealed and there is no salt found in the bag spilled out anywhere else.

Handy to have and well packaged
I haven't had any issues with damage but the otter box is the one that holds the MREs and has no additional box. Have purchased several of these and have not had any issues with damage. Quality meals for a fraction of the cost else where.
