These are very small
Keep in mind, these are very small, like the size of a pointer finger in length. I got my son's while it was on sale for $6 something, and that's a good price, but the original price, no.... For being as small as they are it should be about $5-$6 toy

Nice toy
My son really likes this guy. He does battles with him quite often.

Kid approved
Transformer junkie kid approves this review. He says it’s well made and doesn’t break as easy as a lot of the less expensive models of transformers. He really likes this version and the accessories it came with. It’s simple to transform, and he was even able to show his 4 year old brother how to transform it. The styling is just as he liked and he proclaims this as one of his favorites.

Decent toy, but pretty weak in comparison to its fellows
As a Core Class aficionado with no less than 15 of these ten dollar terrors in my room, I can safely say that Hot Rod is one of the weakest toys released at this price point since it began in 2021. Sure, he's not nearly as awful as the Legacy: Evolution Dinobots, and doesn't literally fall apart like Studio Series Laserbeak, but he just doesn't look that great.Design-wise, he falls into a lot of the same traps that G1 Hot Rod toys do. He's got odd shoulders that stick out way too far, tiny little forearms that just look weird, and bulky legs full of excess kibble. These design choices would not be dealbreakers in and of themselves, however, when combined with the lack of paint applications on his shoulder and legs, it just makes Hot Rod look cheap and lazy, and he sticks out like a sore thumb compared to other Core Class figures. However, while his robot mode isn't great, I will admit that his car mode is pretty solid. The highly panel-based transformation scheme is annoying at first, and it can be difficult to tab the parts in, but the end result is worth it. The car mode proportions are highly accurate to his appearance in The Transformers: The Movie, and you can tell that the paint budget went into making sure the hood and windshield pop. To me, Hot Rod's car mode saves the figure, easily elevating him from two to three stars. As a final note, while his sword accessory isn't particularly accurate to any depiction of Hot Rod, it does fit his character and honestly is a pretty cool addition to his design. I have yet to buy Legacy Iguanus (and have no intention to), so I can't speak to how well the result of combining Hot Rod, Skywarp, and Iguanus's weapons works, but I can definitively say Hot Rod's sword is far, far less intrusive than Skywarp's fork.Overall, decent but not great.

Happy nerd boy collector.
I grew up with transformers. I loved the animated series. I wanted transformers for around my desk, but not the big bulky guys, so I started collecting these tiny ones. All of them Gen 1 style transformers, except for Hot Rod, who I picked up because I loved the original movie. Easy to transform, fun to look at, and they can get knocked over by my cat and hold together. I <3 them.

Hot Rod... NOW WITH A SWORD?!?
Srsly, when did this kid get a sword? Is this supposed to be some sort of call back to Arthurian legend Sword in the Stone stuff? I haven't been paying much attention to the media. I just like the toys. Anyways, this version of Roddy has some wicked cool engineering for the transformation and just is all around a fun little toy.
