Jung - The Key Ideas: Teach Yourself: An introduction to Carl Jung’s pioneering work on analytical psychology, dreams, and the collective unconscious Paperback – Illustrated, March 27, 2018

I downloaded this primarily for the purpose of understanding the theory of personality types, upon which tests such as Briggs-Meyers are based. It certainly met my objective, but also helped me to better understand Jung's thoughts about dreams and symbols, differences between his thoughts and those of Gnosticism, and several other subjects. Snowden does a good job of covering each topic without going so deep that you spend an inordinate amount of time learning about Jung.

This is a catchy (if that can be said of anything about Jung!) introduction to the man and his ideas. The author puts the development of Jung's ideas into the context of his life-events. The writing style is designed to appeal to people with no previous knowledge of Jung. At the same time, it's amazing how much good information the author manages to cram into this attractive little book.

I came across this book when I was asked by a friend to recommend a relatively short summary of Jung's ideas . Having read it I find myself, despite fairly extensive reading of other texts about Jung, better informed and with a greater understanding of key topics in Jung's psychology. There are other books around which introduce Jung to the initiated as well as the uninitiated, but I found this one easily read, clear in it's outline, and effective in it's stated task . Overall an excellent book for all readers and highly recommended.

Author succeded in an appropriate introduction on the great C S Jung. It is simple and easy reading. One can read this as a light story.

I like the concept of this book, but not the execution. It's just off the mark for me as it explains simplistic concepts in a basic and distorted manner. Wish I could trade it in for a more accurate depiction of Jung and his ideas.
